For anyone who hasnt had wild salmon

Give it a try. It is so much better than the salmon you normally buy off the counter which is on offer at £5.00 per kilo. Non wild Salmon @£5 is not filleted for starters & comes with more grey fat.

For an extra £1.50 buy this wild Salmon & save yourself the food waste of filleting & with little or no blubber & a meatier taste & NO PREP TIME.

Trust me. If you havent had is before you will NOT regret giving it a go.

Offer valid for delivery from 6/12/2016 until 26/12/2016

And after you cut the head & pull out the bones of your whole salmon its probably the same price per kilo or cheaper.

And for anyone moaning about it being frozen.... All salmon sold in uk SUPERMARKETS has been frozen before they defrost it for you before selling it to you from the fish counter as fresh fish.

Tesco whole salmon - Previously frozen
Sainsburys whole salmon - Previous frozen
Morrisons whole salmon- Previously frozen
Asda - Just emailed for confirmation it was previously frozen (which it will have been) EDIT ASDA AVOIDED THE QUESTION - IE ITS PREVIOUSLY FROZEN TOO

My pleasure.

Was just thinking about all the HOT Salmon deals at £5 per kilo. You have to chuck the head away & all the bones with those deals... So price per kilo is probably the same.

But this is a far superior product.

The same as the fish you get in any Supermarket thats not frozen but they defrost it before you buy it.

Depends on which supermarket and where you are, but, usually, some is fresh and some has been previously frozen.
So neither of you are totally right or totally wrong, so stop arguing.

Well. I am pretty sure Tesco do not farm their Salmon (in Norway) & transport it by boat to the UK without it being frozen.

Of course its frozen beforehand & defrosted for the counter.

Just for the unbelievers..... Fresh counter Salmon HAS PREVIOUSLY BEEN FROZEN

#6 "The same as the fish you get in any Supermarket thats not frozen but they defrost it before you buy it." That's what I'm saying isn't true. So I'll spell it out. SOME fish is frozen, SOME isn't. What is fresh and what is frozen will depend on which retailer it is and where it's located. ALL fish will have been on ice.

"FISH" in #6 means "SALMON"

Please, if you want to pick an argument please do so elsewhere.

Really good in this

The Food Standards Agency guidelines say that fish may be labelled as fresh if it has ‘been kept chilled on ice, but not stored deep frozen’.

I believe this is much healthier than farmed salmon, better quality fat.

Had this before, it was horrible.

And what you believe to be fresh is not fresh they just defrost it & sell it from the counter once defrosted.

I dont know what your problem is but please take it somewhere else.

The quote about counter served salmon was tescos own statement on the product they sell on their counter.

So there we go.... Salmon served on the counters in Tesco stores was previously frozen.

Now please... Go elsewhere with your arguments

it appears you want everyone to go "elsewhere" unlesss they agree with you-but hey, its "your" thread and you must be correct, otherwise youll look a complete....

Frozen in transit as well as all salmon in Supermarkets

It's not.Have unloaded these lorries thousands of times and there fresh. That wording you have is keeping them right and legal.
So are you basing your argument by what you read on the Internet or have you actually worked in a supermarket or distribution outlet?

Says "packed in China" - as opposed to Canada. I would worry it was caught that side of the Pacific until I knew otherwise.

It's fished in the Gulf of Alaska (but not at this time of the year). Most of the frozen fish is shipped to China for cheaper processing and distribution.

Err no. My comments highlighted above are what the supermarkets say they are & its splattered over their websites. Are you saying the supermarkets are lying?

I am just waiting from a response from ASDA & then all the top 4 supermarkets say the salmon on their fish counters was previously frozen.

I would rather take their words than yours. Sorry

Again they say MAY so that's leaving it open for both fresh and frozen.
like when certain products say MAY contain nuts because come from a factory were nuts are processed. They are just covering themselves incase it happens. Don't know how many times I can explain this to you.

Produced in:
China
caught in:
the Pacific Ocean
