£60 off any new Apple Watch when purchased with AirPods @ John Lewis

Great deal/early stocking filler from John Lewis for those interested in the new Apple Watch Series 3 and Apple AirPods. I have both these products and they work together brilliantly. If you have Apple Music you can stream millions of songs wirelessly between the two with no need for an iPhone (great when exercising). An added bonus is the free 2 year guarantee as standard on both products when bought from JL. Use code APPLE60OFF at checkout.

It also pretty much announces that you probably have a 7, 8 or X. They also don’t stay in properly so pitching them as ‘great for the gym and fitness’ is a joke unless you’re one of those gym poseurs. As a deal though, pretty niche appeal but good all the same - rare to get graced with any money off Apple stuff.

I would disagree with your statement that this deal is of pretty niche appeal. The Apple Watch is now the best selling smart watch in the world and makes apple the highest grossing watch manufacturer by revenue over Rolex, Seiko etc.

The AirPods are one of apple’s best selling accessories ever released. They were pretty much sold out for the 6 months following release and dominate 85% of the wireless earbuds market bgr.com/201…le/

Yes these products are expensive but what makes them such bestsellers is that the functionality is second to none. My AirPods never drop connection unlike so many Bluetooth alternatives and allow access to Siri with a tap, next track with another, pause if I take one out etc. The charging case has not been beaten by a competitor (Bose charges £250 for its wireless earbuds and gives 20% the charge with a much bigger case). The AirPods are perfect for exercise.

The watch is designed to be much more than a fitness tracker but it works very well for that. I’ve found accurate heart rate readings compared to my chest monitor, accurate GPS for outdoor runs and can use it while swimming too. I can even track my sleep quality with pillow and get workout prompts. Then there’s the ability to stream music with no phone using the cellular model, make phone calls and send and receive messages too while I’m out and about.

I agree it’s not for everyone but for many people these are two great products which are very rarely discounted because they sell enough at RRP.

The Bose earbuds won’t be releasing in the U.K. until next Spring. They cost much more than the AirPods at £250. Furthermore, they are a lot bulkier and the charging case has 20% of the capacity and does not fit in your pocket like the small AirPods case. They also lack the W1 chip that automatically pairs with apple devices and saves battery life. I agree the sound quality will be better (I have many Bose products myself such as the QC35), but for exercise and phone calls which is what I use my AirPods for the quality is perfectly fine.

Wow what insightful and well argued points you make. This kind of bitterness never ceases to amaze me. If you prefer buying £50 android handsets keep doing that but why attack those who prefer other products. People can buy whatever they like and a deal is a deal.

I have plenty of non apple tech which I also enjoy but was merely recounting my positive experience with these two products. The 98% customer satisfaction also speaks for itself. Have you actually tried either?

Great deal if this is what you’re after. Thanks for posting.

Sounds like a great deal. John Lewis customer service too. 🏼

”If you have Apple Music you can stream millions of songs wirelessly between the two with no need for an iPhone (great when exercising“
To clarify, this needs the version of Apple Watch 3 WITH CELLULAR.

One for the Apple fanboys only I think. Are these the same people in a froth over a 0.25% increase in their interest rate?

Well of course the interest rate hike is going to hit Apple fans hard, they need to borrow so that they can buy the next overpriced turd that an Apple engineer sticks a logo on.

Look I just don't get why anyone would spend that much on a piece of tech when a smart phone (any variarty) on a arm band and a pair of Bluetooth headphones would do a better and cheaper job, the only thing I can think of is if you where a fan of that perticular companies products, ie. A fanboy.

And yes you are entitled to spend your money on what ever you like, but please don't get upset when someone dissarees with your choices.

So you’ve not actually tried any of the products you’re blindly criticising based on ignorance. Yet you still feel equipped to disagree with an honest opinion by posting the very well argued opinion of ‘fan boy alert!’ twice.

I’d be perfectly happy for you to disagree and hear your genuine thoughts on what’s wrong with the products but you’ve not really added anything of value to the discussion.

I want to know onething if i but both than i use the code than i keep the airpods and give back the watch it will come airpods for 99.00£

Lol

Aren't the AirPods available at around £130 these days? I know i've seen them several times at Costco around that price. If so its really a £30 saving.

Also has anyone got an experience of the new Sony WF-1000x? The fact they have active noise cancelation is really making me consider these. Although another part of me thinks wait another year as the tech is not quite mature yet.

If you find it feel free to post the deal. I got mine from o2 at 20% off but that deal expired when they clocked on they were selling them for a loss.

I would say that John Lewis is worth it for the 2 year guarantee, in my experience problems with apple products always start after the first year is up.

Same goes for everything else in this world though doesn't it? Why would anyone spend over £100K on a Mercedes Benz AMG GT when they could get an Affordable C-Class at 1/4 of the Price? Your logic in calling someone a Fan Boy by insulting others for their choices isn't disagreeing with someone It's more like mocking them for liking an item that is of a Premium.

I'm not Upset, I'm highlighting your naivety and poor grammar and spelling If anything.

I was merely pointing out that apple generates more revenue than Rolex on watches after 2 years in the market which is incredible considering the bestselling Rolex (stainless steel sub) sells at £6000+ and and Apple Watch at an average of £400 which means they have to sell many more. Obviously not comparing the quality of watches that would very much be a case of apples and oranges.

Rolex is not all that either, just like apple you’re paying a lot for the branding. Their watches these days are mass manufactured by machine in the millions and run very basic automatic movements. If you want something truly special try something that is actually designed and handmade with care like A Lange & Sohne
