Cool glad you have good coverage.

I travel all over the UK with work and find o2 is consistently the worst out the 5 main networks, swapped to o2 last year and ditched them within 2 weeks

I saw O2 advertising (outside their shop on Old Broad St, London) £19.58 for 800 mins + unlimited texts. It looked like a sim-only deal (it said something like 'keep your number and your phone').

02 have one of the highest network coverage rates of any of the mobile companies, just behinde Orange with their staggering 98% of the UK covered.

And t-mobile are one of the worst

Just been lookin at what you can get on a 12 month contract.......It's definitely customer friendly times at the minute. Me thinks the companys have gone from "takin the chronic P" to now practically bending over backwards for a few bob from us.

Hasnt it been 600 min and 1200 text for a while now

If you go on the 12month package you get 800 mins and 1600 texts then your bolt on

Hot for me! Heat & Rep!

Last weekend I got 600 mins & unlimited text form O2 for my £20

is this really new, i started an o2 simplicity £19.58 contract almost 2 weeks ago and already had 1200 sms and 600mins?

S

Been with o2 for 5 years.. in September they offered me lousy deals so i went on 600min/1000txt/data simplicity for £20/month (rolling 30 day contract, no phone).
Anyway the Nokia E71 took my fancy, so I called them and asked just 2 weeks ago about upgrade options.
Anyway after a lot of haggling I got the following:
E71 (free)
600 mins / 1000 txt / unlimited data
£20/month for 18 months.
So I basically got a brand new £250 phone (see play, ebuyer, ebay for price confirmation) for nothing, as I was paying £20/mth for the same deal earlier on, albeit not tieing in for 18mths.
I asked the analyst how come the offer was so good (after the bargaining), given that in Sept 08 they couldn’t do me any deals. He just said that the credit crunch etc meant that their goal was now to guarantee cash flow for the next 18 mths so they’re now better at offering deals.

I didnt think posters were allowed to use affiliate links to post deals?

It's a good deal - I signed up last week.

If anyone's wondering, it works fine in my iPhone 3G with the unlimited web bolt on but as I can't get 3G coverage in my area I complained and they offered me an extra bolt on with a £5 ex vat discount for 12 months.

Effectively I'm paying around £22 for 600 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited web but I think I would have probably stayed with T-Mobile if not for the iPhone as it's a bit cheaper and the "fair use policy" on O2 limits you to around 250mb/month if I'm right? Whereas T-mobile is 1gb+ I think.

the wife just got 600 mins and unlimited text without the fair usage and free internet policy from t-mobile for £20 per month.
she has had no trouble with coverage.

T Mobile are far the worst iv dealt with haven't been on virgin or vodafone so don't know whats that like. Im currently on Orange, 3G and 02 and out of them i would say 02 alway seems to have better coverage, better customer service than the two i'v mentioned. however thats just my opinion and i wouldn't go on T-Mobile if someone paid me the amount of times my bills came high for normal use and the amount of times iv lost signal in normal areas where the bar should be near full is ridiculous.

this is the deals i got with o2 since last summer. unlimited web bolt on is really good to check mails and stuff. other companies charge like 1 pound a day or 7 quid a month!
there may even be quidco on this offer!

stesavingexpert;4502643

And t-mobile are one of the worst

I agree. T-mobile really sucks!

Banned

I get 1000 txts / 600mins and unlimited Internet bolt on for £5 a month with cashback (no return time limit) on O2.
I just said they were poo and I was off to Three :P They stopped me

HAHA - nice joke

Voted HOT, o2 is the best coverage by a mile

No idea if this is true, but I'd heard from 'someone' that o2 are the providers of the mobiles for the police force (their work phones, anyway) and to do that, they have to have the best coverage - 98% of the country.

All I know is, I live in Devon and I've been with three of the four big networks (T-Mobile, Orange, o2) and my best mate is with Vodafone. I can honestly say that o2 are by far the best, coverage wise. Even when I was living on Dartmoor, they were the only ones that gave me consistent signal, albeit propped up in a window! After that it is a close run thing between Orange and Vodafone and T-Mobile are dead last.

As for o2 deals, I'll be attempting to wangle myself an LG Renoir and the £20 a month deal come 10th March!

Its 98% of the population NOT 98% of the actual landmass of the country, so go out of big towns and cities you struggle in areas with every network to an extent especially when travelling, like I do.

Their 3g and HSPDA coverage is pretty well accepted to be the worst, this thread even has an iphone user saying they have no 3g coverage, reverting you to good old GPRS which is totally useless for most data applications and when travelling. I found o2's mobile broadband particularly bad when on trains hence why I ditched it and moved to 3 mobile broadband which is an awful lot better for me personally

Be careful with o2 and the Unlimited Texts offers...They do not include MMS!!! o2's INCLUSIVE texts DO include MMS on the 1 MMS = 4x SMS basis.

Bascially, watch the wording. 1200 Texts is probably better for most than Unlimited Texts.

Nearly went for this deal to the point i rang vodaphone up to cancel my contract that i'd just come to the end of (18 month). Lady on the phone offered me unlimited texts, unlimited internet and 600 minutes with vodaphone for £20 a month. :-D

on voda with the mouth by mouth sim u get 600min and unlimited text for just under £20 but and u can cancle at the end of ever mouth if u like and with quidco u get £90 but it take about 4or 5 mouths to vaildate mined is now so hope to get the pay out at the end of this mouth but i know some one on here phoned voda up and told them about quidco and they gave them the same mins & texts for 12.99pm on a 12 mouth contract that what im hopeing for when i get my quidco hope this help annyone

does anyone actually get near 1000 texts in a month??
o2 deal is best- voicemail is free. i wish they would do better quidco like voda for 12 month contract
tmobile charge 20p/min, voda is included in minutes

best price ive seen is 800mins and unlimted texts for £20 on a 12 month contract o2 simplicity. Really annoying as i pau £34 on orange for that!!!

I think I am going to go for virgin media sim only deal ]here for £12 where you get 300 min and 500 texts for £12 as I will never use this many!

Lots of sim only deals around at moment though and this does seem good if you need that many texts

balluji;4504186

My first contract was with BT Genie (which became o2) and I had unlimited texts with that... my 'best' month saw me rack up over 1500 texts! The month after that they changed the deal to be 1000 texts per month! (not saying that was due to me, but obviously they were getting many customers sending thousands of messages a month!)

T Mobile coverage is so bad in the South West that we actually bought ourselves out of the contract after just 2 months. O2 are by far the best imho, having been with Orange previously.

Also if you are an O2 customer then you only pay £7.99 for home broadband and their customer service is second to none.

Couple of questions:

- apart from O2 who do the web bolt on, is there any other sim only deal that includes 'unlimited' data?

- what are your opinions of the best network for 3G/HSDPA speeds ? Currently on O2, but not too happy with speeds.

Thanks!

i am on this deal at the moment i think it is 200 extra texts if u sign up online i chose the unlimited 02 to 02 calls bolt on great deal in my opinion thought it would have been posted

heat and rep added

Yep, T-Mobile Sucks! They messed up my settings so I couldn't get email or send texts, took them ages to sort it out. Aftre I had complained that it always takes ages to get through to them on the phone (usually 20 minutes, always at least 10) they explained they 'aim to answer the phone within 30 seconds'!!! Looks like a case of the target falling well short (by 4000%).
