First post so go easy!

Just thought this was a cracking deal when I rang up to cancel broadband today. Existing customers with virgin media or mobile can get a sim only deal of 600mins, unlimited texts and 1GB mobile internet per month on a rolling contract for £7.32 per month.

I know the tesco deal of 500mins unlimited texts and data got incredible heat for £10 per month and this is even better!

If you're a VM customer of course!

great deal!!

What happens if you leave VM during the time of this contract?

Does this apply to PAYG customers also?

Can't get to that price on their website. So you need to phone and tell them you're thinking of leaving?

I hate to do this but any proof? The website doesn't even have an option for 600 mins and even then similar with 500 minutes costs a lot more than £7.32.

no its a rolling monthly contract.

With their contracts you have to buy out the rest of the period, plus 30 days notice

How did you get that rate?
On the VM website that package is £15.32 for existing customers?

considering the fact i rang up to cancel and DID cancel, but she offered me it cos i had 5 days remaining till i was actually out of contract, I'd assume because having that sim will make you a customer then it will stay 7.32 for the rest of the contract duration.

Phone them up buddy!

What's their coverage like for signal and 3g? - Never considered virgin before but htis seems too good not to take it up, just joined VM last month and have until the 21st to cancel, new wirless super hub is giving me loads of gripe with dropping the wireless signal and needing a hard reboot to get it back on - on the other hand I did get a 1.4gb movie downloaded in under 10mins

No, I meant can you get this deal if you are a VM PAYG customer.

Dunno if I trust Virgin's outsourced customer services... but does look like a good deal.

This is not the same (SIM only) .... but still a good deal ...

We picked up a Blackberry 8520 for my wife on Sunday from a Virgin Media shop.
The deal on offer in the shop is not on their website. This months deal is ONLY for the 8520.
It's £7.32 for 24 months - 100min, 500text (I think), 1G internet, free V-V mobile calls, free email and BB-Messenger. It's basically the £15.32 package with £8 discount for XL customers.

Only one deal per house-hold. You must have at least one XL package on your existing VM contract. We had XL-Phone, L-TV, L-Internet. Being on an XL package means you probably pay too much already and they recover the costs through the XL package.

If we cancel the TV package next month we still keep the 8520. At the end of 24months, the 8520 is ours but we'll need to buy a new contract.
Going into the shop meant we walked away with a handset and avoided £7.99 delivery charge.

No hard-sell. We went in looking for the £9.99 deal our friend had last week and shortlisted 3 handsets (one was the 8520). The salesman asked if we had an XL package and made it clear that the 'Current' hot deal was with just one handset for XL customers at the low price of £7.32
I wanted an Android phone but there is currently nothing near this price - he suggested I come back each month to see what's on offer.

So you called them up to cancel your broadband, and instead they sold you a mobile phone contract --- wow!

Ok for existing mobile phone customers but no chance of getting this deal as a newby, even if you have cable, broadband, etc.

I've voted hot but it's not really a deal is it?

1 - you have to be a V customer.

2 - it may have been exclusive to the OP.

Cracking if it's widely available to others but not good if not.

But thanks to OP for posting anyway.

Check this link out for more info prepaidmvno.com/201…ce/
Can confirm deal does exist as we got one a few weeks ago and we got a mailing re these offers yesterday from VM as we have XL phone package.

ill post a pic of the invoice when i get the sim in 5 days

Hot innit bruv

I have a 200 minutes/unlimited texts/1GB data for £10.21 a month that was posted up here a few months ago. That was for existing customers and wasn't on the site - you had to phone up.

Be aware that they can mess up the payments to begin with - first 2 months I paid full price. It got sorted and I was refunded.

I phoned their sales & they said that there was an offer for £7.32 but no data included. The package on the website is £15.32. I reckon if you get through to retentions rather than sales they might make it available but you need to have your fingers crossed,be standing on your left leg and there needs to be an R in the month.

These get posted every so often.

No guarantee of this offer - it's on a customer by customer basis.

My wife's just gone on this couple of days ago, so it's gen. And deserving of a hot vote.

With reference to the out sourced customer services;

When you need to speak to someone always select the 'I want to cancel option' as you then end up with the english call centre\better service! I always do this even if its just a general question about my account and they never ask why I went through to that option.

Too bad its only for existing virgin cust. Otherwise this would have been burning hot.

But it still a great deal so heat from me

How is this a deal?

The op clearly contacted virgin to cancel his contract
They put him through to customer retentions who offer him this tariff to stay.
Good for you op, but it’s not open to everyone only people who are near the end of their contract and phone up to cancel.

Edited by: "no1john" 8th Jun 2011

Wow. That is one nicccce deal!

Time for a thicko to enter the house!

Can you put this in an Iphone 3GS? and the 1GB would be like i have on O2 right now? Yes i am male and No i dont do technology really

TA

Well tbh, it is nice to see a company offering preferential deals to its existing customers, i.e rewarding loyalty.

Too often all the best deals are offered to attract new customers, whilst customers who have been with them years gets nothing.
Thinking especially of SKY here.
Though I did phone up a couple of weeks ago to cancel sky ( more because disappointed with programmes that are on) and ended up being talked into keeping existing package, plus all film channels for half price - which is less than what I was paying to start with.

Which network does virgin use?

Acording to a mate who works fot T-Moble they use there network for calls & data so if you get good service with them you should Ok with VM

I got the same package, when I called to cancel, and it only cost ~£7.21.

I think its a deal.
I do not have virgin media in my area, but have been with virgin mobile for nearly 10 years, as PAYG.

Right so you call up to cancel because you don't want the broadband, and instead they get you to keep the broadband and sell you a phone contract. They must be laughing quite hard as the usual deal they have to offer is a price reduction.

Anyone got any idea on the coverage?

I'm with Virgin but not done a year yet so probably cannot threaten to cancel, I was also saving my threat for a TIVO
