I'd personally pay the extra few pounds for a 3.0, make it future proof and is just generally faster! Check out the Lexar S23, it was on here a few days ago

How would making it usb3 make it faster?

Just curious as the slow memory on these will unlikely fill the usb2 memory bandwidth, so usb3 will be even more pointless.

My apologies, slightly misread your post. Yes a different model would be faster.

My limited experience of 2 USB3 memory sticks is that they can write up to 20mb/s over a USB2 port. The equivalent sized USB2 sticks in my possession managed around 3-4mb/s. They'd weren't fancy models though - basic Sandisk drives so I expected the slowest of memory chips inside. Stands to reason that the memory in USB3 flash drives have to be of a better grade to cope with the speeds of USB3?

^ Hahahaha! That's amazing, customer image posted by Barry.
I'm always bemused when there's offers for sticks of 32GB or larger that are USB 2.0, since inevitably they won't max out the read or write speed of even USB 2.0 and will take an absolute age to fill. My advice - even if you only have 2.0 ports at the moment - is to buy 3.0 sticks that can indeed max out 2.0 speeds - they may cost a few more quid, but they'll save a lot of time! Plus if you get a USB 3.0 PC at a later date, you may find that read and writes can go beyond the 30-odd Mbytes/sec max you get with 2.0.
USB2 drives shouldn't be manufactured any more in this day & age. They should melt down all USB2 drives in existence & convert everything to USB3 & make their prices better.

Most of us don't have USB 3 ports, so that would be a complete waste of resources..

Plus, get a USB 3.0 PCIe card and you can have those ports on your computer now.
