It’s also on Amazon for 759 if you wanted security for returns. According to reviews it has no built in smart capabilities or WIFI (not that its secure these days lol). The lack of information is concerning, but they do apparently hold their high quality reputation (build back from the 90s), that’s a plus. Can be tinkered to give a good, vibrant picture.

This isn't a smart TV if that matters to you.

I think you'll find this is nothing to do with the Akai brand from the 80s and 90s. Most probably just another brand licensed product from a generic OEM manufacturer.

Cold from me considering you can get a 65" 4K Hisense for not much more with Smart functions, an extra years warranty from a company that actively updates and supports their TV's. I know its not curved but side by side quality will be like night and day.

I don’t trust Groupon and have stopped using them for over 3 years now, personal experience and I don’t expect everyone had bad experience with them but I think they’re a terrible company to give my business too.

Bought a sofa from them once. Used it for three years and started to have issues with one spring. Got a full refund from them with no hassle at all.

Much prefer to get a hisense for that money ok 5 inches smaller but has Wi-Fi and smart technology

Thanks for your personal opinion. I bought an external hard-drive from Groupon a few years ago, got a full refund for fault after 2 year and 11 months(1 month before the warranty period) with no issues. I do use them in a very regular basis with no issues so far, for the past 4 years.

Yes they were the days where you saw them in TANDY.

HUK

Firstly 'Akai' and 'high quality reputation' should never be used in the same sentence.
Second. If your going to license a brand why on earth pick Akai!

Akai, up there with Bush as a brand to avoid!

Not even Argos could do a Skoda when they bought Bush. Why on earth anyone would think the name Akai would turn around their fortunes I don't know!

Confused by the "Akai = bad" comments. Could you explain how they are in 2017? Their music equipment is excellent, so, some current examples would be good.

I’ve used them twice recently. First order half of the items were missing, so I got a partial refund, the second time they sent me completely the wrong items. Customer service were great, and gave me refunds (didn’t even want me to send the wrong item back), but I’d rather just have the items I’ve ordered ...

So what?

They are still active posts but no harm to bring to our attention again.

The consumer electronics Akai, is now owned by a Singapore company, the Akai musical instruments is a separate company owned by Numark, so not really the same company nowadays, but the real Akai of the up to the year 2000, did make some awesome electronics equipment, check out some youtube videos of their cassette decks.

Wikipedia states: AKAI - for some countries, Vestel sets are branded Akai

bluraymond is spot on. Dont be fooled by the name. The Akai that made exceptional electronic equipment donkeys years ago is long gone so god only knows what your getting here. A Vestel no doubt.
Its definitely worth buying a decent tv so read the reviews. My Sony Android 55 inch is excellent apart from the "auto dimming" feature which is a nightmare so do a bit of research before parting with your hard earned cash.
