SAii Lagoon Maldives, Curio Collection by Hilton Maldives 5*

Recently opened in September 2019, the SAii Lagoon Maldives, Curio Collection by Hilton 5* is a luxurious, tropical hideaway in the Emboodhoo Lagoon in the Maldives, just 15 minutes by speedboat from Male Airport.

Example date accommodation inc Full Board and speedboat transfers - 25th March to 1st April - 7 nights £2038

Example date flights - 24th March to 1st April £416 per person (£832 total)

It is cheaper to book flights outside of the Voyage site. Currently there are some cheap flights with Qatar airways from Malpensa Italy to Maldives return for £326 per person with 30kg checked luggage. You can get an Easyjet flight to Milan with checked luggage, so total works out at £416.17 per person for flights. If you prefer to book the flights at Voyage is coming up at around £560 per person, the main benefit is that the holiday will be ATOL protected.

LGW to Milan return with 23kg checked luggage each booked directly at Easyjet for £90 per person.

You put a lot of effort into that, fair play.
A word of warning folks

The London to Milan and Milan to Male flights are on separate tickets,.

Hence you will need to clear immigration and pick up your checked luggage at MXP, and check in afresh.

A 1h50m connection time on separate tickets is just too tight in my opinion. Would recommend getting an earlier flight to MXP, or safer still get there the day before and spend some time in the city before the flight

Thanks Chanchi. Been waiting for this hotel to come back on offer. Looks amazing and almost brand new! (opened in Sept 2019)

Have booked for September. Flights were a little more expensive (via Zurich). Great deal for full board in the Maldives!

I booked this last time it came round and got flights with Swiss...or so I thought. Instead I'm flying with Edelweiss who are supposedly far worse that most airlines for legroom and service.
Has anyone booked with this site before ? Looks too good to be true , some great deals
Hot for the effort - but when we were in the Maldives people who had flown from Italy were complaining about the flights and saying they would never do it again.

Last 2 quotes I had off them were way higher than what I got from say TravelBag etc.
Does anyone know if I can sneak in my 7 year old or would that be another £1435?

Yeah, hukd is quite good
We went to Maldives in December '18 - We found (surprisingly) Travelbag were much cheaper directly than I could find online. (For the resort we went to)

I loved it there. Bloody lovely. Great way to just relax and switch off from everything.

Also worth checking:

There are a few other specialist agents listed on TripAdvisor forum that may be worth checking.

Last year Voyage Prive were cheapest for our January trip by some margin. Because theire offers don't always have seasonal adjustments, I find they can be very competitive for peak period (Dec - March for Maldives).

For our summer trip Bestattravel were the cheapest.

For all agents I tend to find booking flights separately is cheaper, or the same but you can get better timings. I use Kayaks month search for flight searches.

NB: Make sure you're comparing like for like. Some places will quote without transfers, which are expensive in the Maldives. Generally you can't arrange your own transfers, as the resorts are private islands. So you have to go with their transfer.

As an example with Travelbag, you have to click through to get the transfer prices. They arent included on the main search page.

Also bare in mind the Sky Room is in a block, so not the typical beach villa you imagine in the Maldives. Personally a detached villa on the beach is one of the USP's of the Maldives, so i'd bare that in mind before booking.

When is the best month or months to visit the Maldives?
Travel Republic (part of Emirates Holidays) has some great deals to the Maldives in the summer hols - check this out - 2 adults, 2 children (<12), 5* hotel, HB, room upgrade and good emirates flights for £6k for 14 nights (15 incl flight):

travelrepublic.co.uk/hol…639

(If link doesn't work, it's 31st July - 15th Aug, hotel is Kandima)

One thing to beware of - these deals don't include the seaplane transfer and they can be punchy - for Kandima it's £1500 for 2 adults and 2 children so does push things up a bit...other hotels are closer so are cheaper, or have boat transfers for a bit less as well
Got back from here yesterday, also booked through Voyage Prive in early December. We paid for an upgrade to a beach room which is in the same blocks as the sky rooms just on the first floor so you have direct access to the beach. When arriving we found out we had been upgraded once again to a beach villa. which is larger than a beach room and also includes an outdoor bath and shower. The beach Villa also has unspoilt views. The beach room\sky rooms look over the water at another island which holds the Hard Rock hotel.

The staff are very pleasant and helpful but in the alacarte restaurants they do struggle. The Voyage Prive full board offer is not the same as the full board package offered by the hotel. With Voyage Prive you have access to the buffet restaurant (Miss Olive Oyl), the pool bar (Miss Olive Oyl Pool Bar), a asian\ italian infusion place (Mr Tom Yam), a curry place (Kebab & Kurry), a chinese place (Kin Kao), and one we didn't visit as it opened yesterday (Jiao Wu). The Hotel FB package also allows access to the hard rock cafe. There are also a couple of private restaurants available which are not included in any package. Overall the food was good, i particularly liked the curry. The service at the a la carte restaurants is not great they are obviously new in this arena and cannot handle many people at a time (even though they are only a quarter full). It took us nearly 3 hours to have 2 courses on one occasion and on another my main and starter came out before my partner had received their starter. We opted to not go for the all inclusive upgrade.

Some 'watersports' such as snorkeling, pedalo and kayaking are included, but as the island is man made and very new there is not much to look at, mainly dead corel. They do offer excursions, diving, seabobs, jet skis, etc but they are fairly expensive

Overall it is great for the money just remember its not an uber exclusive like many places in the Maldives are. At the moment its still fairly quiet so it's great to sit back and relax.

I've found if you use Marriott's app, and then sort by price, select a hotel and then dap the date field and it shows you a price calendar. Often the prices for even the Ritz can be quite low and don't show up on price comparison.

When is the best month or months to visit the Maldives?

Jan to March (incl) is peak season in terms of weather. Dec is still peak season in terms of pricing, but more because of the holiday season demand, in terms of weather its not much better then other off peak months.

Off peak weather averages may put you off. But considering it often rains hard/fast and at night, a lot of that rain won't affect you. Hence I think whilst youre more likely to encounter rain off peak, you'd be unlucky to have a washed out holiday.

We've been both peak and off peak. And in some ways prefer off peak. Cloud cover can be a god send. And lower occupancy levels off-peak are a big positive. Of course significantly lower prices are the other big plus. However, we prefer to go for longer (atleast 10, but 14 if we can), so can afford the odd bad weather day.

Also even if it does rain, its still very warm. We've sat in the lagoon during the rain and enjoyed it. Mainly its the snorkelling the rain prevents.

When I look Emirates arent usually that competitive either (unless they have a sale on).

Try the agents I listed in my earlier post for resort and then Kayak for flight. Also for peak, Voyage Prive are worth watching, because they often have a flat rate rather then seasonal pricing.

Secret Escapes and Luxury Escapes can very rarely have a good deal, but not that often.

And if you're prepared to do a bit google translate, check tui.de. Sometimes they have some good prices.

Oh and if thomson.de ever come back, they used to aggregate the German market, so worth putting them in your search regime. Sometimes the German market has some great rates not available to us. Too bad Thomson went down the pan they were great for searching German TA's.

Anyone with experience of this resort know know if it has a decent house reef? For me there’s no point going to resorts in the Maldives that don’t have accessible house reefs. Obviously, this won’t be an issue for everyone but worth considering, I’ve known a few people visit the Maldives assuming all the islands have accessible reefs

It's pretty new so not much info around on reef.

But they did a lot of dredging and dumped sand to make/expand the island. As did the neighbouring Hard Rock. So I suspect the reef will have been compromised if there was one.

We did Gaafu this year and that was one of the best reefs we've seen since the bleaching. Also saw a lot of big stuff (Turtles, sharks, rays), so I'd look there if Reef is a priority. It's also a wonderful experience seeing no sea planes and hardly any boat traffic. Currently, like for like, Gaafu resorts are quite competitive in terms of pricing (domestic flight probably putting people off). Hoping to find a deal for the summer so we can go again, before the Atol becomes more developed.
