Bit of a niche one this - been holiday hunting for the family and in the spirit of a true bargain hunter have cobbled together this itinerary for 2nd-9th April. Please read the description carefully as there's a few steps and considerations to pull this off!

I'm fairly certain this is the cheapest I've ever seen a 7 night sailing! Perfect for those with a limited budget who've yet to experience a cruise.

Although it's entirely possible to travel at this price (hand luggage only - make use of the laundry services on the ship) I reckon most would probably like to add a carry on case or checked baggage, so make sure you factor in that cost if that sounds like you. Likewise for seat allocations, upgrading to a balcony cabin, etc.

Step 1: Book a flight from London Stansted (08:00am) to Marseille (10:55am) on 2nd April, £24pp through booking agents or £29pp direct with Ryanair

Step 2:
Book MSC Fantasia's 1-night repositioning cruise from Marseille to Genoa (Portofino), £29pp for an inside cabin. Departure is at 18:00 so plenty of time to reach the terminal for embarkation.

Step 3: Book MSC Fantastia's 6-night cruise from Genoa to Trieste, £309pp for an inside cabin. It's the same ship and (although I haven't enquired specifically about this cruise) it's common for people to chain cruises together and stay aboard the ship on changeover day, keeping the same cabin throughout.

I think this cruise visits some really nice locations especially for the money, some nice weather to be had in Corfu and you get to spend a day in Dubrovnik (which is preferable to spending a week there and coming back skint!).

Step 4: Book a flight from Trieste (22:05) to London Stansted (23:10) on 9th April, £11pp through booking agents or 15 Euros direct with Ryanair.

Fancy a longer trip? Trieste isn't far from Venice and at the time of writing flights back from Venice Marco Polo Airport to London start at just £12 with Wizz air. Book some accommodation and stay as long as you like!

Important note: The reason you're flying to Marseille and taking the one night repositioning cruise is because flights directly to Genoa on the 3rd April are really poor - the only plausible option would be to catch a more expensive flight the evening before (2nd) and get accommodation for 1 night in Genoa, which is bound to cost more than the £29 MSC are asking for. Extending your cruise for less money is frankly a no brainer!

Hope this helps someone
