Are these like the bad brother, of Holiday pirates then?

already booked my holidays for September very jealous

What's the weather like that time of year? I thought the best time to go was early in the year...

Pirates is correct, seems you are being led up the gang plank. Hotel AI only via Monarch for 2 is only £666 -

Booking Details
Arrives 24/09/2015 Nights 7 Board All Inclusive Guests 2 Adults

Room 1
Type Twin room standard Adult 2 Child 0 Infant 0

Flights just over the £1000 mark for two giving a princely sum of £1666 without any promo code and I doubt it would cost you £200 each to get to/from Addu Atol.

Going via Quidco will most likely save you a few more bucks.

Total Price £666.52 Includes saving of: £112.82

Grouchi - Thanks for YOUR post.

We went in September about 9 years ago and weather was hot 30 degrees plus

7 or 14 nights??? So is the price double for 14 nights??

full of criminals, expats that is.

Last week of Sept / 1st week of Oct?
Make sure you pack a brolly!

Why state Gran Island when it isn't?

I don't want to sound like an idiot but if you are going all that way a big chunk of this cost is the flights. Why spend a lot on flights for a cheap hotel? Hate to say it but by Maldives standards this hotel looks really bad. Much better off spending £1k on a high end European holiday.

You conveniently missed out that flights and hotels booked separately are not covered by ABTA or what ever they are called these days.
By all means save cash by booking your own holiday. However if I'm travelling round the world in this day and age I'm going package.

So how much is 14 nights??

Thats utter nonsense, you are covered in exactly the same way as a package holiday. The only difference between a package holiday and booking separately is you don't use the travel agent if you have issues, you go direct to the airline / hotel.

Never experienced any monsoons when we went September so wouldn't worry too much about it.

I had a flight with Monarch to Greece a few years back..Never again

the flights are with Etihad, according to the description

The weather in Maldives is hot all year round and they don't have a quiet season. We went in Jan and loved it.would go again. Room quality is nice to have but you spend most of your time on the beach or in the sea. Tip for anyone going is to take the beach shoes you can wear in the sea because the coral and rocks can cut your feet. And of course wear sun screen from the minute you get there and not get sun stroke like me. Also we had a speed boat transfer from the airport which was fun and allowed us to see wild dolphins and other islands really well.

about £320 on maldivanair website, and $400 on the equator village website

Not sure you'll find any ex pats there. It's all hotels so unless they live in a hotel. Doubt many criminals there either.

I went out in September time and we had a week of sun and a week of rain. Still lovely and warm though. Snorkeling doesn't make a lot of difference what the weather is like. Loved it though.

So where do the people that live in islands and work in the hotels live? Under the hotels?

They live on the capital island Male plus a few others. Pretty sure there are no ex pats living there.

It's very safe as the only people there are staff. You can go on a trip to see how the locals live. It's our fav place and we've been to lots of Caribbean and South Pacific Islands. Although for some people it's very boring as there's not that much to do... Not for me though, I'm happy snorkelling all day

Maldives is awesome, I'd take this deal just to get back there whilst you still can. Enjoy the islands before they are submerged under rising sea levels it is a serious concern for the Maldivian people. we've been 4 times and it never gets boring...but we like snorkelling and chilling out in total tranquility

Always check the quality of the coral before selecting an island, if most of the coral around the island resort is dead you won't get the rich variety of fish, rays, sharks and turtles you would on vibrant, live coral.
