Very well received strategy board game for 2-7 players (although 3+ is best). Best price it has been on Amazon according to Camelcamelcamel and worth a go if you're into this type of game. Blurb from Amazon follows:

Create the greatest civilization the Ancient World has ever known
In 7 Wonders you are the leader of one of the 7 great cities of the Ancient World. Gather resources, develop commercial routes, affirm your military supremacy or build your city and erect an architectural wonder which will transcend future times.

Simple and fast gameplay
7 Wonders is played in three ages. Each player chooses a civilization to control and at the start of every age receives seven cards from a particular deck. On their turn they choose one of the cards and pass the remainder to an adjacent player. Cards get revealed simultaneously and might have immediate effects, could provide bonuses or upgrades later in the game or enhance a player’s military strength. Will you gather resources and bide your time, or strike fast and grab what you can?

Prepare your civilization for tomorrow
Rise from your barbaric roots and become a world power by creating opportunities for your civilization. Start small with basic resources and buildings and make your civilization move forward with every card choice. As the ages advance, you’ll choose from progressively more magnificent developments, so prepare your civilization for tomorrow or be left choking on the dust of your failing nation.

Create your own path
As the cards vary from resources to commercial and civilian buildings or science and military improvements no two games will ever be the same and the possible combinations are endless. It’s up to you to forge your own road to victory and rule the most powerful civilization on Earth.

Will you lead your troops to a military victory, create a thriving nation of artisans or philosophers or build an architectural wonder that will fascinate for eons to come?

Great game, most played game in my collection I think.
I have all the expansions too, which are all excellent too (except Babel which I found a bit clunky)

This is very tempting, but I really shouldn't be spending any money at the moment! Great price, voting hot.

Looks good - although i will never be able to get 3+ people in my house to sit down for this

There is a version called 7 Wonders: Duel. I haven't played it myself, but it is supposed to be good and is, as the title suggests, just for two players.

I think there is a bit of a misconception over board games though, most people think of things like Monopoly and Cluedo when you mention them and are always reluctant to try new ones out. I've recently got two new people to play a few different games, at first I got the worried funny looks, but afterwards they spent ages discussing them and were surprised at how much they enjoyed them. They are a hard sell in this day of computer games and mobile phones, but they are genuinely some of the most fun times you can have and a great way to bring social interaction back to the table (pun intended).

It's a couple of quid more at Tesco, but on 3 for 2 if there's anything else you want at the same time.

Dichotomy

Always worth a flubit

always heat for board games

I had this game in my collection for a year before I managed to actually get around to play it - and it's now one of my favourites for 5 or more players, thoroughly recommend it - it's fast too! (it plays roughly the same time regardless of player count!)

£22.31 on Amazon atm.
