The usual distance is around 2 to 4 meter... So 75 inch should be fine

Yep spot on. Viewing distance has not been an issue since the advent of HD tv's. Your kids will sit 2 feet from the tv if you let them (not a good idea). Pictures are so clear and sharp these days that 3-4 meters is perfect even for a 70 inch tv.

Philips 65PUS8901 only released one model I believe was kinda buggy and the projection ambilight was so good it took away from what was on the screen. Didn't see one in the flesh mind so going off reviews etc. Would just like 4 sided ambilight thats in all of the ranges for those who wall mount like me

...so for Ambilight to work properly TV needs to be basically mounted on the wall?
Fire! Fire! I think this deal is smoking hot, 70" coupled with the Ambilight features & a decent home cinema soundbar is enough for most.
Is this vestel?

I have a 55 inch TV and sit 17ft away from it. Looks like a 32 inch TV. Was an upgrade from 47inch so next one will be 75 too
Not the best review there on Amazon.

...so 3 sided does not need to be mounted close to the wall and will enhance watching expierence by projectiing ambilights without them reflecting of the wall
ive got the 55 wothoit the ambilight, pictire and aound are great but ui and tv guide are terrible!

Hi BS,

Nope doesn't need to be wall mounted just looks neater IMHO. Ambilight just needs a flat surface behind it to work ie a flat wall so can sit quite happily on it's stand. It will even ask you the wall colour on set up so the lights perform to the best of their ability. I genuinely thought it was a gimmick until I bought one and quite frankly I wouldn't go back to a non ambilight tv. PS no I don't work for Phillips quite the opposite.
