Just been looking to get a car service arranged and came across Servicing Stop, they're a company who got backing on BBC Dragons Den. They have a January offer on for the next 3 days that gives you a massive 70% off cost of car service. The offer is nationwide and the company collects your car and drops it back after the work is carried out. I've just booked a full service for an Audi A4 Cabriolet for £75. Seem to have great reviews.

Worth booking now as you don't pay till the service takes place.

i have used them twice. they r ok.

maybe you ought to read what's in their 'full service'. it isn't actually a full service as specified by the manufacturer.

btw, what good reviews ? when I looked at trustpilot they were really slagged off.

They may collect your car and drop it off, but don't think for one minute they won't re-coup the costs with phantom repairs (_;)

Don't use them, they are serious rip off artists. Dragon's Den pulled their investment from them shortly after the show.
Got my car serviced from them, they claimed it needed some new parts and charged me for them but never fitted them. Since the service the car has been leaking oil all the time and made a mess of my drive and they would not fix it. When I had it checked by the dealers they told me they had cross threaded the oil sump plug, so needed a new oil sump installing. Guess what, that's the part that servicestop had damaged, charged me for but never fitted. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Plenty bad reviews all over google.

Rip off merchants, car went for a service came back with a massive fault (wouldn't turn on). Cost me £350 to get fixed, never again.

Disgusting customer service. I had the campervan booked in for a mot last summer and they rang me the day before it was due in to cancel - and gave me an alternative date of a month later. We were due to away in the van that weekend so I had no option but to go with a local garage a full price.
There was no apology or anything, they just said that it sometimes happened that when they called the garage to book a slot it wasn't available - I asked why it had taken a week to tell me and why did they advertise slots as available on the website?

Car went for a service last week, paid around 300 pounds. Before they picked my car for service, both the head lights were workibg fine, but they replaced both.

Damn, hopefully it depends on the garage you get.

Out of interest where were the garages that you got bad service from, hoping the one mine is booked into isn't one of them.

I have used several times previously with no problems. but be prepared for a phone call to tell you that your car requires different oil and will incur extra charge. Probably about £30. strange really when you put all your car details in to get a quote. they know what they are servicing so should quote accordingly. they will try to get you to have other things changed but your not obliged. just say no.

Mine wasn't the garage - it was the actual customer service from Servicingstop.

Just looked on trust pilot, there is some horror stories but majority are good reviews. It seems that some people have been unlucky and got a garage that wasn't very good.

Thanks for the advice. Is it worth the £30 for the long life oil?

What do you think?

I'm not sure it lasts any longer than any other oil. it's what the car takes. I have a 2.0 diesel audi engine. it just costs more than the lesser grade oil. I don't think they will put a different grade in as it's what is recommended for the car. so you will probably have to pay it. I still find it a cheap service although they normally say it requires brake fluid change etc. I just say no.

Always put an old box in the boot and ask them to put the old parts they remove from your car in the new parts boxes they've replaced them with. You can then see what they replaced and what they've replaced them with. Also get the parts individually itemised on the invoice with the part numbers they've replaced them with.

I figure if 10% are terrible then I am bound to be one of them so I won't use them. those that are negative are awful not just 'not very good'. so your choice but I would sooner to a garage I know locally.

The vast majority of positive reviews are by first time/one-off reviewers, surprisingly they tend to be the most glowing of all. Coincidentally a similar situation to some other companies eg furniture retailers like Leather Sofa World.

I had this done last year and van ran rough after with no power ended up going to local garage to find they had snapped a fitting off the turbo.

The problem with SS is that they farm the work out to their accredited garages, so you have no way of knowing if your car is going to be serviced by a brilliant local garage or a bunch of clowns. I have used them twice, both times the result was very good and I now use one of the SS garages for all my servicing. But, it was just luck and I'd be very wary. Added to that, the customer service on the phone is very amateurish to say the least. They need to up the oversight of their chosen garages.
On the other hand, even with the extras, the prices are very good.
Use with caution, but don't disregard.

I think they that are questioning how genuine the post is when someone joins just to put a certain deal on.

Used them a couple of years ago, wanted to replace a pollen filter at a cost of £55. I declined and replaced it myself with the genuine part for £7.00. I had to pay £70 Odd for something else to pass the M.O.T. I only used them as they picked up and retuned the car as I was away working at the time. Would NOT use them again.

I considered them and thought not to as I don't know if parts would be genuine or the oil that they put in is the what they say. you can't trust them at that price. I got the wife's vw touran done at my local garage as it's out of warranty. they used genuine parts and quantam long life oil. I got my front brake discs and pads done and in amongst all that they found my driveshaft bolts were loose so they ordered new ones from vw dealer and fitted them too. also rear springs were also changed this all cost my £275 parts and labour

Hi Tony, I couldn't remember my password so ended up signing up again with a 2nd email address I have. That's the only reason it shows as me becoming a member yesterday mate.

One of the worst companies i've ever dealt with. The 'special oil' phone call should be expected, ask them for a definition of a 'special oil' and don't be surprised when they won't respond! Have used them twice, both times have argued against this charge and not paid it. Far better to pay to have it serviced at the manufacturer!

The alleged 70% discount is a scam. They just keep changing the claimed full price to make it look like a big discount
