Was just in ASDA Bournemouth and they have giant tubs of fence paint / wood stain on sale for only £4.

Perfect for cleaning up the garden for the summer BBQ's.

They came in dark brown or a reddish colour.

They are also knocking out the brush sets for £4 as well.

I would not call 1ltr giant, that's like a bottle of squash
Hmm, then my calculations might be off... what size would a giant bucket be? its pretty big thats for sure.
Right, i pulled my lazy bum off the sofa and went and checked. It was 5 litres not 1.... ive edited the post/
was it a branded one?
Im not that up on the brands, i know the old Ronseal guy but thats it.... i think it was just like an own brand equivalent.

Quick check on the homebase website and they do 2 exactly the same size and colour description. for £7.98

Is this "proper" wood stain?
From my experience the cheap 5 ltr buckets usually contain fence "paint" which peels off after a couple of years.
Stain is much longer lasting if it soaks into the wood - but it's usually a lot more expensive though the effect is much nicer where you can see the grain of the wood.
Having just been to Adsa Farnborough, I notice that these are in fact 7.5 ltre size for £4 and not 5 litre as posted. Suggest op updates post. Excellent value....thanks to op....

Not Ideal it would wear out quick. I would spend the extra and buy something good for decking.

I would have to say no. its for rough sawn timber not ideal on decking at all. definitely wouldn't use it myself. I did notice B&Q have an offer on on decking treatment though, but couldn't comment on price as i wasn't paying attention. It was an end of aisle offer though.

Thanks will look in b&q tomorrow.
just been to asda linwood and they had about 8 tubs of the dark brown, but they were priced at £8. didnt scan one to find out if they were £4. but they probably would scan at £4. might nip back tomorrow and see
Brought a tub today from Quesllet Asda looks o.k. for £4.00,
thanks for the post
I`ve just painted the gate with the dark brown, very watery similar to the wilko 1,but it has soaked in quite well and with a couple of coats it will look like new so can`t go wrong for the price.
yeah, my missus painted our back fence yesterday, i think it looks lovely and regardless of the quality of the stuff, its made an old fence look brand new.
Bought 2 tubs yesterday (We have a lot of fence to cover!) needs unexpiring!
