The Samsung Spinpoint F1 is the first three-disk hard drive delivering a whopping capacity along with sophisticated recording technology. With its compact, lightweight package and advanced design, the F1 drive offers many advantages for high-density applications.

This 3Gbps SATA drive has a maximum of 334GB of formatted capacity per disk while also featuring Samsung's industry-leading NoiseGuard and SilentSeek? technologies to eliminate acoustic noise. The Spinpoint F1 utilizes Samsung-developed perpendicular recording technology, which helps the drive set new records in both areal density and platter capacity.

Servers, high-end desktops, RAID systems and DVRs are among the applications well suited to the Spinpoint F1 drive. The drive is available with desktop PC- or RAID-level reliability. Mean time between failure for RAID reliability is up to 1.2 million hours. A rotational vibration sensor enables the drive to operate more efficiently in a RAID environment.

For consumer applications, a power-saving code reduces power consumption while AV-optimized firmware cuts time delays during AV data recording. In general, the Samsung drive offers a superior combination of density, recording quality and reliability.

£70 for 750gb ... Recession? What recession?!

I know it's only £30 for the 1TB model but it's still a good find. Cheers OP!

Why are there so many samsung hard drives coming up one here. Surely everyone who wants one must have got one by now!

Simply because offers are getting better and better, I think anyway.

"Back" "of" "a" and "lorry" come to mind with these sort of prices ;-)

I'm happy with my 5 1tb drives!!!

Good price. But wouldnt be happy with this!

This 3Gbps SATA drive has a maximum of 334GB of formatted capacity per disk.

Me thinks there is an error...

Ya, deal just gets better and better, this 750GB is cheaper per GB in price.
Samsung 1Tb = 10p per GB
Samsung 750Gb HDD = 9.3p per GB

its per platter on the drive so its not 334GB in total thats just for 1 platter on the hard drive.

so thats at max it can use 334GB on a platter on the disk it could use less.

A word of warning on this HDD - I bought one last month and found it has an inherent problem - copy any large file to it and it locks up your system. Not a good feature for a hard drive! A quick browse of the net revealed that I wasn't the only one to experience this.

This is fixable by turning off queuing, and once I did that everything was fine, but it shouldn't have such a basic problem in the first place.

Yes, i do know this. But if you were to read as a standard user, it makes it look like it will format at 334GB...

The drive is made up of platters inside. Each one can hold a certin amount of data (334GB) before data will be written to the next platter.

yes they should make it more clear its still a good price for 750GB voted hot

you cant have 334 GB platters in a 750 GB disk this disk has the wrong info on the ebuyer page it should be 3 x 250GB platters

WD make a 640GB hard drive which has 2 334GB platters

the 1TB samsung disk has 3x334GB platters which according to people on overclockers forums who usually know what they are talking about when it comes to pc parts are faster

the 750GB is a good price but its questionable to who it will appeal to as opposed to the 1TB for £100...as usually people who need drives this big have large amounts of video and always need extra space

people who just use their pc for games and playing on the net can get away with 160GB drives which are probably around £25

You are joking right? Assasains creed takes up 11gb by itself :O Add to that a nearly fully steam catalogue, battlefield 2, multiple race games, FSX etc etc and suddenly my 500Gb for games is gone.

Music, films and other software take up the terabytes though. All legal obviously, as im totally against piracy............

Good deal mate.

Thats hardly typical though is it? Most casual users would never fill a 160GB drive.

I bought it from scan.co.uk and put it in a Thecus N299 NAS box on its own. Have to wait for the price to come down a bit then I buy another for RAID, 0 or 1! SCAN sometimes is better as its free delivery means a day or two whereas ebuyer is up to 5 days.

I think it is correct to say:-
Most non-multimedia users seldom fill 160GB
All multimedia users always fill 160GB or more

That's only five pence cheaper though, hardly worth mentioning !

Well with scan you get to choose when you want it delivered for free. Better than ebuyer.

I would choose Scan rather than Ebuyer if both were the same or similar price, due to the quicker delivery times. I have received my items next day with free delivery, or even choose which date. Ebuyer it is hit & miss.

scan defo better than ebuyer.

ebuyer nearly went bust last year and was saved through google check out promotion.

Now down to £69.49 at Ebuyer and £69.31 at Scan
