does it allow you to charge it while it charges a phone? my previous one said would reduce its life. but my dad's allows it.

Not sure I understand why you would want to do that? Can you explain your use case?

I imagine if both devices are dead, then it means one plug to charge both at once..

Looks good.

I was thinking about getting a Jackery and those are only 3200mAh for the same price on Amazon.

No

I see. Odd indeed.

Anyway, to answer the question; any (dis)charging of the device will reduce its life. That is a limitation of the type of battery technology used. Capacity will reduce over time, tending towards zero until they are essentially useless.

I personally wouldn't recommend charging and discharging simultaneously on any of these devices. It will more or less certainly impact upon charging capabilities, particularly if the power bank is 'dead'.

it's for when you are on holiday

so my dad has this big powerbank with 4 usb out connections and one usb in connection for charging

you can leave it overnight to charge the battery pack AND charge your tablet/phone etc

so if i go on a trip and want to recharge my battery pack and my phone and my tablet, can i do it with just one plug socket?

A Samsung power bank for a tenner? Looks too good.

why would you want to charge the battery and the other thing from the battery at the same time, what's the situation that occurs in, just plug both in?

you then have to pack more than one usb charger. and good usb chargers eg 2a are rare.

so you have

wall socket in hotel --> good 2a charger plug --> battery pack --> phone/tablet/etc

all with one plug!

That kind of defeats the entire purpose of these things. Sort of like refilling your car whilst driving. I mean......I'm sure it's possible........

ha well it's what my dad has been doing for years! i see at home it isn't needed but when travelling is really useful

I have a Xiaomi power bank which allows 'passthrough'. If my phone is dead and my power bank is dead, I can plug the power bank into the mains, and it will charge the connected phone at the same time. The result being a charged power bank and a charged phone in one go. That said, whether this will do the same thing in one go, I don't know.

I got one of these today and it says to only charge it through a laptop sub port and not to charge via mains, just as a heads up

Got a 15000 mah bank on eBay for £11

Can you take this abroad in your luggage?

The size is portable.

yeah OK I see the value in it, I guess its more convenient, than swooping thing around etc. I have just bought one of these away, as I have been looking for one and are about to go camping today, so we well see how good it is.

Cheers op. Impulse but that'll hopefully help me out at Silverstone next weekend. Heat given

so I bought one, here's some feedback.

mine will be going back. I think in fairness

I think I've got a bad one

sorry that comment got messed up, I'm in a yurt camping, and the signal is pants.

so yeah, mine, out of the box was underwhelming. I know its cheap, but maybe a standard price is around 20 quid for something similar, so its only worth having if is cheap , but still at least quite good. this is not that IMHO.

mine is a bad one I think, but the plastic is away from the box and and the USB port is really bent and damaged, it sort of needs the cord to held in at the angle to work... also as some one has already said, it suggests you charge it via a laptops USB, I rand mine off a 5v plug, and it was fine, but still! also its very slow to power up its own battery, and to charge other things.

all in all then and IMHO, prob better off spending 100% more (only about another tenner) and getting g something better
