If you are serious about your photographic results then being in contol of the light is a massive factor in achieving the best possible results…..
Bouncing flash off the inside of an umbrella offers a more diffused and even light than direct flashguns and can give a more preferable quality of light for portrait, interiors, product photography and also general studio work.
The compactness and nature of the umbrella makes them an ideal portable solution for shooting in the great outdoors / out on location - just hope it's not too breezy! You can combine the different colour finishes of the inside of the umbrella AND the outside to control the light and achieve many different effects.

At a glance features
Gold / Silver
33" When fully opened
High quality material
8mm aluminium shaft is designed to fit most flash heads and umbrella brackets

Works for me.

Heat! Good if you are starting out in photography and want to do a bit of portrait/studio work
cheap
We use this for adult films great buy
bargain
I don't know anything about photography so apologies in advance
But is this just the umbrella, or does it include the flash light as well?
It's just the umbrella, a flash at the price too would be mental. Good deal.
is it good for rain? can Rihanna use it?

Link to adult films please,
as above...is it waterproof or just splash proof? Would it protect the person underneath from drips?

Sounds like Loughboro Guy would be the best person to ask...
Is this waterproof?
Could this be used by an *ahem* particularly fabulous individual as an actual umbrella?
Never used one of these do you need a seperate clamp to attach it to a tripod? How does the flash attach to the umbrella? I have some wireless triggers for firing the flash.
@donkil - yes, you need an umbrella bracket. To make the thin shaft a bit stronger and less likely to be crushed by a bracket trim down a pencil and put in the end. You also need a lightstand e.g. 7dayshop.com/cat…297

you need a light stand/tripod with brackets to hold the flash and umbrella.

Soft boxes are much easier to control the light. Umbrella are also known as 'light grenades'
For those asking if clamps are needed: Yes. You attach these to a tripod, place your flash (on another tripod) in front (facing the umbrella), then use a remote switch (or wireless) to synchronise the lot.

For those asking about it being waterproof: Yes they are. However, rain will almost certainly tear the foil.

I use these ones whenever I get kids or pets in the studio; they do the job very well, and at the regular price, I don't mind if they take a bit of a beating. At this price, I've just ordered another 10. Thanks OP
Useful bit of kit. Thanks OP.
Thanks guys, think I will research a little more into it, can you not get umbrellas where you can place a flashgun into it instead of having a seperate tripod?
How is the quality of things from 7dayshop (for the money)? I plan to buy a softbox-like umbrella and other accessories for photography.
Can anyone who has this tell me if it has a hollow or solid shaft? I find hollow ones tend to crush/get damages very easily.
Thanks
To answer a few questions:

Yes you can get a flash mount/umbrella riser combined mount. I bought these a while ago. Not sure where you'd get them over here, but that's what Google is for

I've bought loads of stuff from 7dayshop and not once have I had cause to complain about quality. I actually consider the £30 (ish) binoculars I bought from there to be superior to the £200 Pentax ones that jumped off a boat.

These are the hollow shaft ones. They're not as weak as you suggest.
Cracking price good find
Just tried to buy 2, but after going through payment it shows as 'On backorder'? Is that just me or anyone else getting the same?
The larger sizes are more use for only a quid or so more

I'm curious about the umbrella softbox things that they sell...Anyone tried them?
If I use this as a normal umbrella will it stop military satellites from reading my mind?

Yes, of course.

Yes, of course.

Fantastic, my tin foil hat makes such a racket when I get caught in the rain.
WIth the godl being on the outside of the umbrella... isn't it just a colourful silver one as you can't really use that side? Appears to be no removable lining like other dual colour ones
price has increased to £6.09 delivered...
£6.09 and OOS.
brilliant for the hobby man seeking some extra diversity on there shots
It's now £6.09 delivered :-(

See the previous tip in this thread about inserting a pencil into the end of the shaft to add reinforcement.
It’d be nice if it were 7mm shaft, so that I could use it on my Elinchroms, but I already have a couple of Lastolite brollyboxes, which are superb, and so easy to use. My Elinchrom shoot-through brolly is broken, though — the wind caught it once, and it all fell to the ground, brolly first.
