£15.98 LOL., not the OP fault though.

I rather buy buttery instead of wasting for this one , by the way u can easilky tell if the battery alive or dead by putting the battery in the remote control. lol

That does not always work, when you have more than one battery sometimes one will go dead long before the other, then you will end up throwing a good one out. I have a multimeter and this does happen.;-)

Not quite so easy when you have a pile of batteries, some of which are dead, some are live... have fun swapping them around!

As it happens these are rubbish, been posted a few times before. Often seen in poundshops, and one is all you will want to waste money on! :-(

lollingtons at the RRP..... I got this for 99p from 7Days about 3 years ago!!!!

aye i got one a while back it works perfect

Completely agree. That is what I found out once I bought one of these testers. Not saying that this deal is the best ever but every house should have one of this meters.

Funny how it fools you into thinking it works though.

To be fair - Mascherano is THE aficionado on everything. He seems to have bought all the stuff that doesn't work thats why he is abe to comment on it:thumbsup:

Not voting as you see these quite often in poundland , i have one and find it very usefull , it works fine for a rough guide .

order one.

good find, ordered one

LOL good that it is buy one get one free, working out as roughly £1 each, but no way is this a deal and no way would this item be sold for £15.98. I bought this item from Poundland several years ago.......for £1 !!!!

Nevertheless, I appreciate the OPs effort for posting this item here and so give heat and rep

i think i need one of these and it is a useful item to have. i do not unsrestand why those who already bought/have simillar item complaining that this is not a deal as they bought it £1 ages ago. the point is "where we can get this item cheaper". if poundland or anywhere else currently sell this around £1.5 or less then you have a point.

By the way, op, how this by one get one work? i have added 2 into my basket and shows as £3.98.

A cheap digital multimeter can do all this and a lot more

Bought one 18 Years ago for £1.00 and it still works fine.A very useful little tool. Excellent value.

A proper battery tester would be a very useful thing to have.

I have a multimeter but the problem with it is that it doesn't load the battery so you always measure the open circuit battery voltage which can be close to 1.5V even on a reasonably flat battery.

This is due to the chemistry in the battery, but when you load a flat battery even lightly, the voltage drops dramatically.

You need a tester that lightly loads the battery, this would give you a proper indication of the state of the battery's charge under load to tell if it is flat or not

I had a few of these ages ago- they are not accurate and therefore worse than nothing at all.

No it won't. A digital mulitmeter has very very high input impedance so it effectively just measures the terminal voltage of the cell under no load conditions. That's not always a reliable indicator of the "health" of a dry cell.

they were cheaper , and so were a lot of things, before 7 day shop introduced free postage

That's great unless of course you tend to use rechargeable batteries a lot. They always get mixed up and it's useful to see which are charged. It's a useful item to use as a rough guide but as previous mentioned it doesn't really show the battery under load and just measures the voltage at the terminals ... something any multimeter can do.

Not exactly a bad deal though, thanks for posting.

I love it when someone posts a simple deal like this and we end up with a mega-thread exploring Ohms law, the fact that a completely different more expensive product can be used instead, or that the item was once available in 1968 for two shillings and tuppence

voted cold...I HATE it when retailers quote a ridiculous RRP to try and make a product more desirable.

No offence op

How can this be a deal?..........this tester has been available for 99p in most 99p shops for the last 3 years and in all the Poundshops for around 5 years..........why is it a deal from a shop that tries to con you with a vastly inflated rrp...........and then makes you buy 2 when one is more than enough.....stone cold.

I've had one for years ... mine works fine and I find it very useful for rechargeables ... takes a few seconds to check which need a charge and which don't.
Definitely not worth the RRP though ... that's a laugh
but this deal is pretty hot

Yes a completely unreliable product. If these were 1p I'd still vote cold
