Can't decide between a Windows or Android tablet?....You can have both with this one...Dual boot Windows 8.1 and Android 4.4

(Can be upgraded to Windows 10 now and Android 5.1 soon)

Decent spec with only the cameras letting the side down .Screen Res isn't 1080p but personally I find 1200x800 fine on an 8" Tablet

8'' IPS (1200x800)
Dual Os (Android 4.4 + Windows 8.1)
Intel Z3735F 64 Bit Quad Core up to 1.8GHz
2GB RAM AND 32GB ROM
Wi-Fi + Bluetooth - HDMI - OTG
Dual Camera (2.0MP - 0.3MP)
5000mAH Capacity Battery for long lasting usage

Only a couple of these left now but plenty on eBay for around £100 from UK sellers, £80 from Chinese sellers or around £65 if you want to risk a chinese site like geekbuying.com

let down by resolution.... but good amount of ROM and RAM

Depends how much storage is left over after both OS's take their share.

Look at the Hi8 model also by Chuwi...that one is 1080p
ebay.co.uk/itm…b3f
Usually around £10-£20 more....

Have you tried an 8" tablet at 1080p??
Trouble with upping to 1080p on an 8" tablet is Windows doesn't scale too well and a lot of the Windows controls are almost too small to touch, additionally battery life is reduced and if you are into gaming you will see a performance drop on higher end gaming titles.
Personally at 8" I think 1200x800 is fine.

10Gb in Windows partition, 6Gb in Android partition....

Would be quite interested in one that had a dual OS with Win 8.1 / 10 and a flavour of proper Linux. I wonder if it is possible with this one? Don't like Android at all.

Android can be useful on such a small touchscreen device.
I've never handled one of these but I imagine you could triple boot Android/Window/Linux depending if it uses some special type of bootloader. Installing Linux might break Android. Saying that though, I don't see why you couldn't install Linux and dual boot Windows/Linux.

Why not run the android as a Vm under Win10??

You mean with something like bluestacks? They don't run great. It would be much better running Android natively.

How does the storage work after the partition? Are you able to access all of it? Say can you download something on Android(video/pic) and access it from Windows side? Very tempted, would prefer a 64gb version but surprised at the price. I was looking at teclast 10" for over 200quid

I'd like to know the inner workings of this too

it's 1280x800. I don't think anyone makes a 1200x800 screen.

pretty much same thing in white and cheaper here.

On further inspection the one I linked says only 1.33GHz not 1.83GHz like this one. Shows it's the same chip though so should be same.

Not sure about /android partition from Windows but you definitely wouldn't be able to access the Windows partition from Android as Android cannot access NTFS parts..

If you use a Fat32 formatted SD Card both OS'es can access it.

But also from a Chinese seller. (ignore the "shipped from UK" Bull****") it's a chinese seller...If you want to buy from China Geekbuying or gearbest will ship one for just over £60...

Vonda and Ployer both do make similar tablets but they also use nasty launchers and lots of bloatware...the Chuwi tablets use google standard launcher and barely any bloatware.
(Yes i know you can change the launcher but the OEM one will always still be there ;-) )

No..this deal is a UK seller. Chinese sellers aren't allowed on HUKD

Onda v820w is an alternative to this Chuwi tablet but personally the horrid launcher and bloatware ware on the Onda puts me off it.

I've just 5 mins ago ordered the Chuwi Hi8 from Gearbest at £61.10 inc P&P...similar to this tablet but with 1080p
gearbest.com/tab…tml
never used them before so used paypal

You might want to look up reviews of gearbest as they don't seem to have the best reputation. At least you can raise a claim with PayPal of it hours wrong.

I had a 32gb dual boot tablet. It had a 14gb windows partition (with only 7gb free after installing a UK language pack & updating windows) & 7gb free space on the Android install. The rest of the 32gb was taken up with recovery partitions & the Android OS.

Neither OS could see the other but you had a shared sd card on the one I had.

You can get the Hi8 from ebay for cheaper but its from hong kong... make your own decision - link

Gearbest are even cheaper but their WOT ratings aren't great. But you can pay with paypal so if they start acting up you can just raise a dispute. comes in at about £60 from gearbest. Though you risk customs with anything like this from chinaland.

Says in the q &a blurb "I am sorry that this item comes with US plug. If you need any converter for this item, please remember to leave us message when you checkout. We would try to help you to satisfy your requirement." Also says it comes pre loaded with win 10. At this price I'm tempted to have a punt on one of these mainly out of interest.

Exactly my thoughts. Nope Gearbest reviews aren't great hence the reason I've used paypal. Not fussed about US plug...got loads of Micro USB chargers kicking around...wort a punt for the Hi8 at £61

You've given me an idea for a kids TV show, ROM and RAM could be sitting in two motherboards and say nonsensical things to each other such as "Flubit Flubit" and "Smeeee heeeeead"

I haven't all posts here so apologies if already stated, but they sell this for £55 at Banggood.com. I have one and I would recommend it. Android games run very nicely on it, as does windows.

Also @Uridium, note that the Hi8 doesn't have HDMI out, so for me is less useful. It does, however have the Z3736 which is a wee bit faster @2.16GHz instead of 1.83. I ordered one but cancelled when found it had no video out.

Re some of the early comments a reminder that Android IS a flavour of Linux!

, Its personal choice but I think Android knocks spots off Windows. Now Windows 10 has been released it turns out it is a big brother security nightmare with a key logger and each up date reads everything on your computer and has the ability to disable any other third party prove or hardware it does not like. Windows has taken spyware to a new level!

How weird - have some heat, thanks for sharing!

Anyone have any recommendations for 10" version? Note I'm specifically looking for a recommendation, rather than simply xxxx .com sell them. Thanks.

Purchased one from gearbest EU warehouse a couple of weeks ago. £55 delivered the next day from Hounslow. Paid by PayPal.

Android makes far more sense on a tablet than windows does and I've got both.

Your comments on Windows 10 privacy issue's are certainly valid.

I do however like windows on a computer but on a tablet it's a disaster in every way. Windows is simply too fiddly and power intensive to use on a tablet.
