Going Asdas tonight! Tuna Bake, here I come!

At the risk of spoiling the party, this tuna might be cheap for us, but dolphins and other marine life pay a high price for this particular brand:

Your text here

"One of Britain’s biggest tuna brands, Princes, has agreed to drop an environmental claim from its tins following an investigation by Greenpeace.

Prince said it would immediately ditch labelling claiming that its fishing methods protected the environment and marine life and would instead refer shoppers to an environmental statement on its website."

****! ive just got back and had bought 4 of the 4packs for £3 each.... grrr

Very good price but I am not keen on the chunks - much prefer tuna steaks, and in sunflower oil

Not bad at all - I'm 8 miles from the nearest (small) Asda and don't drive.... can anyone confirm this is nationwide before I waste an hour on the bus (or get lynched for sending the wife while I'm at work).

Brilliant price - time to stock up

Anyone got the 8 pack bar code?

I love Tuna and I'm not trying to suggest people stop eating it. I'm against Big Companies that don't give a damn about the environment and only think about profits. There's sustainable ways to catch Tuna and Princes prefer not to emply them. And I'm not a Hippie!!!

I'm with you here i'm no hippy i just care about the environment, so i'm definatly not buying princes until they actually change, anyone who doesn't know should check out greenpeace.org.uk/tun…ble

Just got back from my local Asda and its still £5

Mine reckon they have never heard of the 8 packs

So this isn't nationwide...don't think I have ever seen an 8-pack in my local Asda. Must be superstores only...need to stock up as well as I go through minimum 2 tins a day lol.

I have every sympathy with the sentiments expressed by some posters regarding the boycotting of princes tuna, I deeply respect and value the natural world and think to some extent the human race is a blight on the planet.

However, tuna is a fantastic clean protein source, and I just can't afford to equal this amount of protein via other sources usually chicken and turkey. Again though, even though it pains me, I can not afford free range corn fed chickens etc.

Bottom line is that I need to balance my ethical concerns with what I can afford, and at the moment, with food inflation as it is, these are a genuine bargain, and as such, I will buy them and stock up on them however hesitant I may be about it.

What a load of old tosh, talk about trying to justify yourself. Either you want them so buy them or you have ethical concerns so don't buy it. To state you cannot afford to equal the protein from other sources is pure garbage. For the record I don't care either way, I hate the taste of Tuna

justify myself? I don't need to justify myself in any way shape or form, and certainly not to a pompous self important, factually incorrect and presumptuous **** wit like your good self.

I was merely providing some emotional succour to those members who are made to feel guilty for having to make their food choices with price as one of the main concerns.

As for alternative sources of protein being less expensive, i would love you to point me in the direction of where else I could obtain almost 1.5kg's of clean protein for £2.50.

Can I ask why the need and obsession for clean Protein?
Edited by: "ristac" 3rd Mar 2011

Bought today at 7pm. Rang up at £5. If it had been £2.50 I would have gone back with a trolley. Still not as good as the 2 tins for 50p last year. I made up for this by bagging three packs of the £1 chedder burgers, a copy of the Guiness Book of Records 2011 for £3, and various bakery items reduced to 10p.

Got 40. 320 tins £100.

Expires 11/13

Normally go through 4 a week so plenty time to get them eaten.

Bargain.

Expires ^ meant best before.

got some today, it is definitely £2.50 a pack, got burgers for a £1 too, couldn't resist some crunchy nut for £2 750g

I got a few at my superstore. They said 6 per customer. Anyways heat added. Good Job OP

I picked these up yesterday for £5, they had them all out for promotion.... i thought £5 was the promo lol

Just picked up 2 lots from my local. It was still labelled at £5 but scanned at £2.50

Bought a pack last night @ £5 for the 8 thought was decent until this BUT going by the above comment, I wonder if it scanned through at £2.50. I never checked to be honest.

Quite funny reading through this deal. Hippies and foodies.

Clean protein!!

I like my protein dirty, big fat steak. Quality.

Tuna is great for sandwiches and pasta bakes. Yum.

I eat a lot of protein in my diet to keep myself fit and muscular...tuna is the best source for this, esp at this price.

Okay no worries, it is just that the only time I hear people use the word "clean" in front of protein is when they are into weight training and body building.

Just got this deal for 2.50 @ Rawtenstall store. Thanks.
