Look, I love my tea & normally stick to the recognised brands but recently saw these in store & thought I'd give them a try. I think they give just as deep a flavour as the brand names & provide a lovely mug of tea..... as strong or weak as you like. There's 2 downsides: 1) they're square rather than round & 2) they dont come in a flashy brand name box.... so if you;re not a snob, try them... trust me, you wont be disappointed. 28p for 80 people!!!

Fairtrade too!

You can't stint on tea.

I buy these all the time and they are very nice. Strong also.

Drink these all the time. They've been 28p for ages. I think they're well worth a try even if you're used to paying much more. You've nothing to lose as they have the Sainsbury's 'Try Me' guarantee. If you don't like them they'll give you a full refund!

Tea is something you cannot compromise on!!

I am not with brands as they may charge more for the same tea but do know what comes with cheaper alternatives.

Good that it is a fair trade but try opening the tea bag of a quality tea and this one.. you will realise the difference. Tea prices goes up with its granule size and highest when it is leave.

I have tried this one and many other brands as well.... i believe red label and gold tea flavours are better although its a personal choice... tastebud is yours

Fair enough. I haven't tried it.

Probably the best own brand cheap tea bags on the market.
Tempted to try Tescos equivalent but doubt they'll be as good as these.
Heat added

I can't find a better tea than 'Yorkshire tea'.

Willing to try this though. Heat.

Have been drinking them for ages and have converted many others . tesco value are rubbish !!

Yorkshire Tea is the Daddy!

Twinings 1706 or nothing.

btw, what's the issue with square bags?

tried these before and they were rubbish.
Instead of a nice rich brown colour when milk was added they were grey and tasted awful too.

How do these compare to the Asda and Tesco value ranges which are a similar price?

I have the Asda ones at work at the moment and they do the job. Much better than the free machine

i get my typhoo from home bargains.... 89p for 100.. bargaiN!

certainly Yorkshire tea is good ..and economical if there is more than one of you drinking tea at the same time..one bag certainly makes two good strong mugs of tea. If you are on your own and can't face a second, top-up, cup then go for another option maybe?..a cheaper bag but that only makes one decent mugful (dunno what that its though..a good cheap one-cup T-bag anyone?)

What's the black logo on the bottom left? Anything to do with fair trade?

Just a bit concerned that, if these are decent quality as people are saying, Sainsbury's must be paying pittance to the farmers. Sainsbury's are usually pretty good with that sort of thing though.

Yorkshire tea, cant beat it. Worth the extra

Tetley for me always has been but i guess for this price it's worth a punt

sainsburys red label are good i find them better than the other big brands

I think tea tastes better from a teapot. I have tried all the "value" teas and Sainsbury Fair Trade tea at 28p for 80 is very good at 7 out of 10. I use Yorkshire Tea for the benchmark at 8 out of 10. There are better teas but they are very expensive compared to the price of bottled water.

which asda value ones are you referring to? if its the green/white box then i have to say the tea that comes out that is rank beyond words!

if its the 'blue' slighly pricier box, then that one is nicer by all means...

Thanks for the comments folks. I haven't tried Yorkshire tea so can't really comment but I suspect that it's a very good tea indeed & obviously one that people swear by. All I'm saying is that these Sainsbury's bags bear comparison with the market leaders, Typhoo, Tetley & PG Tips. I mentioned "square" bags because I think people have got used to round.... its all marketing of course, round bags aren't going to make the tea taste any better!! As somebody mentioned cheapest brand name I've found is Typhoo at Home Bargains @£1.69 for 200. The other thing that somebody else has touched upon is that, to me, tea of certain brands has got weaker & weaker.... In the old days you could easily get 2 mugs of decent strength tea from a bag which you can't always do now (Yorkshire might be the exception!)..... that annoys me!.... not sure if you can do that with the Sainsbury's, my task for the day!:)
