Went into the local Aldi in Great Barr earlier on and they had 4 of these 800w generators for what I consider a bargain price of £24.99...
Ideal if you have a power cut and need some emergency power, lights, charging phones, laptops etc....
I was told that if any other stores have them they would be the same price as they are selling off all of the older stock and garden items (As you can see by the receipt).
Worth a punt in my eyes for less than £25..

And comes complete with a 3 year warranty..

Good price for a backup power supply. Heat added

I remember those, beer tokens. eventually wore holes in my pockets.

I can't remember what we had to do but I remember having to take one of these apart for my dad as we couldn't get it to run, it was something to do with the carburettor but we got it running.

To be honest i've just shoved mine in the shed... lol... And it probably will never get used.... X)

Good idea for when the power cuts start and before Franco/Chinese power is available.

I am seriously considering getting a small generator to keep the central heating going - just in case

Where do you plug them into?

This should generate sum heat...

not good enough for a gaming PC with 1200w PSU

It will not generate heat

not a chance of running your oven or an electric fire.... Just TV & lights lol

"...the local Aldi by my sisters house..."

Ah yes, that branch - unfortunately a long way from 'the local Aldi by my uncle's office'.

As I understand it the best idea is to turn off your mains electricity isolation switch (so you are no longer connected to your Utility electricity supply) then you can plug this into a mains socket and distribute the power around the house.

If you try to do this without cutting yourself off from the grid I'm not sure what would happen...

Otherwise, just plug an extension cable into the generator and away you go

You can get tin foil cheap on Ebay as well.

Strange that it isn't listed online with all their other DIY deals on at the moment

Might be worth getting considering the UK power grid only has 5% headroom this winter so if we have cold snap the lights will go out and the Nuclear power stations will have to be shut down if there back up supplies fail. its all doom and gloom now .

A rebate? lol

this is a good deal if you have any in your local store, just bare in mind this is only for backup and will require frequent servicing

Being honest if you need one of these to run a 1200 W gaming PC, you probably won't have any internet connection, or lights, or anything like that to be honest.

Another item to cross off my zombie kit. thx

25 quid that's crazy.Could take the engine out and put it on my push bike and save me peddling.

Funny you should say that…power has been off for 2 hours on our street!!!!

Think you'll find it will be. A 1200w PSU won't actually pull 1200w

or like me I am installing a nice new APC ups with a great 10 hour runtime for my Comms cupboard some emergency lights and desktops

will have to add a generator as well!

heat...

Awesome price, none in my local unfortunately

cheaper than british gas !

Yeah, if you're pulling over 1kW from a 1.2kW PSU then you really need a better PSU, I've always followed the "80% capacity" golden rule to extend working life.

How do you rekon you're going to get the exhaust gases out your house? leave the windows open and let all the heat out as well?

Is the price displayed on the generator or did you only find out at the till? I want one to dismantle for other projects. £25 for a 2hp 2 stroke engine is good..
