pretty hot - Gutted on missing the 2000W version of this last year, even when my local sotre had them on clearance 3 MONTHS LATER for £140!!! didnt know the bargain...

Would snap this up tho if I didnt need more power....

Worth putting by for when / if the Russkies cut our gas off!

A couple of things although this is cheap it doesn't say if it has a catalytic converter so may not reach clean air requirements plus no mention of noise output.

I know this is a bargain site but I would recommend a portable generator that has a catalytic convertor and is low noise like ]http//ww…tml

thats unless someone has more detailed specs about this generator

Nothing worse if you are powering a music system outdodors only for the generator to make the most noise

I think they are 68db.....a bit noisier than some but not too bad.

Saw a large stock of similar in B&Q Crewe yesterday for £50 something (sorry, wasn't really looking for one). Suggests this isn't an especially good deal?

Not a bad price, but 2 strokes are always loud and hot. .....and don't forget, you have to mix the fuel & oil. Easy if you know what you're doing. But it sucks if you run out of 2 stroke oil.

Not voting either way.

Hey OP, don't shoot the messenger

Indeed. The engine is probably not very efficient, but the generator seems to be no better. The engine has a rating (at the output) of 2hp or 1500 W, and the generator turns that into 650 W of electrical energy. What is happening with the other 850 W? I guess they go to waste.

So this is only for very occasional use. Otherwise the fuel bill will soon outweigh the savings.

Problem is no one can really repair these. The parts tend to be non existant and build quality are very poor (especially the pull start). We get quite a few people bringing these chinese made products in and usually they have to scrap them (and they usually have only used them several times). You are far better getting a make which can be repaired and are far more reliable (dearer initially but cheaper in the long run) COLD

These are £59.98 in store at B&Q
Not the same make - but generically the same. Note the ones in B&Q do not have the 12 volt charging facility which this one appears to have, but if you already have a 12v battery charger is there any need for this facility?

Be aware that the constant output of this type of generator is 650W (as specified in the detail). The 850W as specified in the deal title could be misleading as this is peak output only and so only available for a very short time.

2400W one also available in-store in B&Q for Look for the cream/grey coloured one, not the red coloured Rockworth one they also have available on their website

I don't think it's a question of getting parts (which is difficult, granted) but more that they are uneconomical to repair.

Considering it's not going to be worth anyone looking at it for less than about £50, by the time you've added the cost of parts & VAT, then you may as well buy a new one. I believe that's part of the reason spare parts are difficult to come by - there really is not enough demand for spares. (If you are desperate, you'll probably find the same design of part on a genny that costs much more.)

Normal service parts are available (e.g. spark plugs).

Looks an excellent deal.

In my experience 2 strokes are quieter than 4 stokes and I suppose you would keep a stock of 2 stroke oil if you bought a stroke genny.....Izzy

I think you'll find that this is a Wolf product wuth aldi labelling on it!!
