Great deal....Been to Cuba twice in the last two years. Stayed at the Blau Varadero last year and it is an excellent hotel, with great facilities and beautiful beach. Paid a lot more than this too. Copacabana Club in Havana is a fab night out (free cigar and bottle of Havana Rum)

Cuba is a 'must visit' country. Go there before the Americans are allowed back in, as it WILL change.

Don't forget to bring back plenty of Rum and cigars (great value!)

Note that hurricane season in Cuba is between June and November.

Heat added for the value.

hi kurtnut
I actually smoke cuban cigars (robustos)
What is the prices and are they sold in shops?
Are they dearer than the canarian cigars or comparible?
Assuming you know of course lol
Pete

She might be a bit wrinkly but if she can suck one of those things down to the stub I'd give her a whirl.

Is this the kind of place for a family Holiday? I was thinking of St Lucia but if this is as good as it looks and at this price then I think I'll go for this.

It's like looking at Penfold with a cigar...

Amy Winehouse?

I never did bin to Cuber because I don't like the place!

Would absolutely LOVE to go to Cuba!

Must earn more money!

Cuba is an awesome place to visit, i went for about a year ago and stayed in varadero, very nice beaches and items are cheap out there night life is good also. good price heat added

Went to Cuba in May with the Holiday Place, couldn't fault the holiday company & had paid a lot less to go there than others who had used more well known travel companys.
Cuba is a great place to visit & very safe compared to many Caribbean destinations.

Its a shame you have never been (bin) to Cuba (Cuber). They speak and spell English there and some people can learn alot from their great culture and education system.Hot deal

It takes a lot of experience to manage a big one.

Peter, Cuban cigars are the best. You must buy them from the government run shops, otherwise you run the risk of buying counterfeit ones, also without an official receipt, they will be confiscated at the airport (if found). I bough a box of 25 Romeo Y Julieta half coronas. They cost me approx £25, if you buy them at a UK airport Duty Free you can pay around £200! A bottle of the standard white label Havana Club Rum costs around £3!

The Mojitos in Hemmingways Bar in Havana are out of this world!

It's a great place for a family holiday too. Plenty of water sports and activities for the children. People are genuinely friendly, hotel entertainment is of a great standard.

voted hot, just for the photo, genius!

There are other offers where you pay the same amount and can stay up to 13 days

Cubana AIrlines website does not install a lot of faith, some strange russian make of planes

is that jimmy savilles mum?????????

Yes, Cuba is fascinating and Varadero is a picture postcard resort (loads of hotels but beaches are fabulous and atmosphere chilled). I just wanted to back up the earlier poster that it's about the safest country you can visit, especially with children. There isn't even any malaria, as the health service has been so active in fighting it. Outside the resort you have to be well-organised and accepting of local ways and resource restrictions to travel independently, but it's really worth it to see a truly different society.

Dead easy, babber, don't go there!

Almost booked this with Thompsons without the 3night stop in Havana for £860 departing on same dates - reason we didnt actually book was because we took too lng booking and the day we wanted was fully booked. Hot!

I'd love to go here but can't work out when would be the best time to go what with the rainy season, hurricane season and colder weather in the winter!

Can anyone who has been to Cuba tell me what date would be best out of those dates if you wanted a beach based holiday with plenty of sunbathing/swimming as well as some sightseeing?

Many thanks.

If you have any more advice please pm me

Decent price but I can't say I'd feel safe on a Cubana Airlines flight after just reading reviews about them!

Went last year and loved it.

If you manage to get there try and take some pens, pencils and childrens school notebooks as schools and children are in desperate need of them. We took some with us and gave them out as we went on our travels. They were very grateful as this certainly is a third world country.

I remeber stopping at a little roadside market on a bus tour and the driver pondering over buying his child a pencil for school. Rather heartbreaking and was so happy that I could help.

Sounds like a good deal...does anyone know the story with visas etc?

Cheers,
Zuke

Love the pic - I actually met that lady when I went to Cuba! I have photos of her! She's a must see when you go to Havana! She charges for pics. Doesn't miss a pic does she...

I used to fly to Cuba all the time with my job, all I can say is I wish the Yanks nuked the place back in the 60's. Granted I spent most of my time in Havana and most capital cities have their share of grime and seediness. I was in Varadero twice too and didn't see much of a difference.

Essentially the place is full of southern European middle aged men out there doing the sex tourist circuit. The locals will conspire with another random they've never met to extort money out of you. Most look upon you with envy and a tinge of jealousy just because you are a westerner.

Havana despite being a UN World Heritage site is foul smelling and crumbling. We always stayed in a 5 star hotel however the Spanish management (Melia) knew the locals were skimming money off the currency transactions. Around 5-10 hookers sat in the lobby every night under strict instructions to sit in the corners.

I just found the whole place depressing and corrupt.

Interesting review, thanks for sharing, its sure made me think twice. I work Global as well and have been to some scary and depressing places. I think when you work there you see the country for what it really is as opposed to with the Rose Tinted Glasses you see through on holiday.

If I do go thought I will for sure bring some School stuff for the kids! It would be good for my Children to see how fortunate they really are!

Scameron77, I wasn't aware of a sex tourism industry in Cuba! I certainly didn't see anything which would indicate that to me, mind you we were on family holidays and therefore maybe didn't visit the 'darker' side of the country. I work worldwide too and am usually quite astute to recognising 'seedy' areas, but as I say, on a family holiday these places would not normally be on the agenda.

Maybe I will look at the country with a different set of eyes next time (as there definately will be a next time).

Hmm, sounds like Rio - or indeed many other places... This, unfortunately is everywhere. I don't however recall this deal posted as "paradise holiday" so if that's what you're expecting don't book - oh and of course seek out the obligatory Trip Advisor reviews beforehand.

I loved the fact Americans were non existent. You will meet the Canadians instead though!

On my flights around 40% of the passengers were 35+, alone and generally fat.

If I'm going longhaul for a holiday I'd rather go to SE Asia than to the Caribbean. When you drive through Cuba you see how communism just hasn't worked as the country does have natural resources and potential to be far ahead of where it is now. Granted US sanctions don't help.

The population is very well educated in comparison to the surroundings, however due to the ideology in the country there is a go-slow attitude and lack of endeavour, if you shine you highlight the deficiencies of your colleagues, therefore everyone muddles around in mediocrity.

...Good find, 'ave some heat!!!
