For the sake of a few pounds more, personally I would go for the 8bitdo Pro 2 controller over this as it has a better d-pad and the dedicated switch for changing input modes (rather than remembering button + start combos)

I agree - if only just for the mode switch on the back. Price is colour sensitive:
    Grey 32.27
    Classic 34.11
    Black 39.36

Agreed, the Pro 2 is an amazing controller. Works flawlessly on both my switch and PC.

If you need a controller for multiple platforms, it's the go to choice.

Pro 2 is the best multi-platform controller. No complaints about it at all.

    How is the dpad?

Solid. I'm not a connoisseur, but it feels like I remember a SNES controller and feels very similar to my Horipad for GameCube ... I did send mine back though as the right trigger was super sensitive, the left was fine but any pressure on the right resulted in accidental inputs.

Using the RetroBit Legacy 16 wireless now and prefer it.

This is a great controller, the only issue with it is the button labelling is almost impossible to see in anything but broad daylight and I don't play enough SNES to remember the layout!

Have this and pro 2, highly recommend pro 2 over this! So much better pro 2 generally feels better and adds a couple new features like the slider (edited)

Good controller. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't map a keyboard letter to other buttons in there app but still very good.

Does this work when the Switch is not docked? TIA

Yeah connection is Bluetooth directly to the switch

I have this controller already, but one thing that annoys me is how rattley the buttons are. They are fairly loose in the housing so a vibration will make the thing sound like a box of screws on a washing machine. Does the Pro2 fix that?

What is so special about this controller? Good for classic games like snes due to d pad positon?

Decent quality, works with multiple consoles and pc and there's some extra buttons that you can choose what you want them to do.
