Will it not work with any Bluetooth dongle? Serious question. Would be interested in something like this myself but is there any reason a standard £2-3 Bluetooth dongle off eBay/Amazon wouldn’t work with these controllers?
I thought the 8bitdo was already compatible with the switch?

If you're using it with the Switch, no, you have to get one designed for the Switch. But if you have an 8bitdo controller to use with PC, then yeah, any BT solution will do.

Yes. This is more for using other controllers like PS4 and Xbone ones. "For use with 8Bitdo Controllers, Nintendo Switch Pro, Nintendo Switch Joy-cons, PS4, PS3, Wii Mote, Wii U Pro and more."
Can you use this to link up your pro controller to a Mac? I have been looking for ages

My 8bitdo works with my switch without dongle. And on my PC just fine
So would this let you connect, say, a Wii U pro controller to a PC?

And to echo some of the other comments, is it any different to a standard £5 Bluetooth adapter?
Just a heads up, these apparently don't work with Xbone controllers.
So this would allow me to use a PS4 DualShock with my Switch?
thanks ordered saved me getting a switch controller
8bitdo controllers are already compatible, as mentioned already, with the exception of the mini keyring sized one (which is actually a huge mistake IMO, as they'd be perfect substitutes for the expensive joycons for multiplayer mario kart, fitting in switch travel cases.

I believe some older pads may need a firmware update, but don't quote me on that.

I think most if not all 8bitdo controllers can pair with the switch after a firmware update to the controller.

Confused. I use my 8bitdo controller on Switch without this...

EDIT: Nevermind, just saw above, I would edit the description if you can to save people spending money they don't need to!

They only work with Xbox One S controllers, earlier models of Xbox controllers don't have Bluetooth.
Maybe I'm being an idiot but isn't this just an oversized and over priced buetooth dongle?
Complete noob...

I have my PS3 3 wirelessly set up to my Raspberry Pi/RetroPie which I love, so what would this enable me to use additionally?

Does this just plug into the Pi's USB and detect the 8Bitdo controllers (which I would obviously have to buy)?

Can you use anything else with this adaptor and do you need more than one for each controller connected?

Thanks in advance

It looks like its just a bog standard bluetooth adapter in a fancy casing. The Pi already has a bluetooth adapter built into it. IIRC there are a few controllers that don't get on with the Pi's built in BT but if yours is working fine, this wont offer anything you cant do already. Plus its massive, most BT adapters are half this price and much much smaller.

you are wrong it isn't simply a bluetooth adapter, try putting a normal bluetooth adapter into the switch dock and then try and pair it with a ps4 controller.

I didn't see that they'd added support, last time I checked it wouldn't support either old or new xbox one controllers. Glad they got it sorted!
Guys, read all the comments.

In short, yes, if you own an 8bitdo controller, you can sync it using ordinary Bluetooth to your pc or raspberry pi, so you don’t need this.

If you have a Switch, and don’t want to buy a £55 controller, you can use this by attaching it to the switch, and pairing it with your already-owned PS4, PS3, Wii u pro controllers, and Xbox one S controllers. I think that’s why it’s mario branded, ie, use this to pair non-switch controllers with your switch.

Also, you need one per active controller in use (ie if you wanna use 2x PS4 controllers at the same time, you need 2 of these)

So basically if you've already got a controller that works with the device you want to use it with (e.g. DS4 on PS4, Switch Pro on Switch) you don't need this. It says 8Bitdo because it's made by 8Bitdo, not because it's necessarily for their controllers, because their controllers already work with pretty much everything. If you want to use any controller with any device that you can't use it with by default (e.g. DS4 on Switch, Switch Pro on PC), this adapter opens up a lot of options for you.
I've taken the plunge! My PS4 controllers will not get more use. Thanks OP.

It is.
Will this work with the Xbox controller that came with my Xbox one X ? I was about t buy a switch controller but would quite happily use my Xbox controller.

I’m reading it works with Xbox one S controllers but not earlier versions, I guess the x falls in the same category as the a?

This is correct but they have stated that it will be likely they can be supported with an update in the future.
Thanks, pre ordered this on Amazon at £17.99 but even with express delivery in 7-10 days still over a fiver cheaper
Has anyones been dispatched yet
