browsing in staples for a 17 inch laptop case and having no luck i found a couple of nice deals on memory sticks as follows:
8gb sandisk blade for £7.50 - cheapest i have ever seen on the times posted here.
8gb sandisk ultra backup for £12.50 - good if thats what you are after.
Was in a clearance display along with a few cheap routers so may well be store specific (they are not online as far as i can see) but as i cant check every store i'll leave that to you to find out.

hope this helps someone.
enjoy.
(i would have bought but missus wouldn't allow it lol)

not sure if this is correct picture as may be a different version if these exist - was white packaging unlike tescos black packaging.

These things are tiny! The one in the original post and the 1st picture above mine is the one I'm talking about. The whole outer case is made out of plastic - it's light, tiny and overall pretty good!

yeah, this was the first time i had ever seen them in the 'flesh' and i was surprised even though id seen dimensions listed on the web.
supposed to be pretty slow but when its this cheap and compact its pretty good imo.
other one is slightly bigger than a normal cruzer iirc and looked massive in comparison.

Noice

Bought one of these from play a while back and whilst it is lovely and compact it is the slowest drive I have ever used. Transferring a 1 gb file takes about 4 minutes. My other Sandisk drives are much quicker. If you don't mind waiting then this is pretty good value.

I can't believe you found something in Staples at a good price, heat from me for doing something I thought impossible

Nice find there, rarely shop at staples but may have to go and pop in. Voted Hot.

Very good price. I've got the 8gb blade and it is slow. Not awful for smaller files, but it's slow enough that you think twice about moving larger files onto it.

These have very very slow write speeds. Copying a 700mb film from my laptop to this stick takes over 3 minutes compared to about 40 seconds on my Buffalo stick. Copy mulitple files at the same time is even slower - the progress bar on windows says up to 20 minutes at times. It just doesn't like lots of multiple random writes.

These are great sticks for school and college, especially (at this price) if your little cherubs lose them often.

How many were on sale when you noticed this bargain

No Blades @ Chatham, Kent Staple. They had only 5x units on the table of UltraBackup only.

still on sale in dundee - had 2 on display

good price, but be warned about speed - they're pretty slow

Yeah they're about 5MB/s write at max and 15MB/s read.
