Solid deal for a 12 month contract with Vodafone. They have great retention deals as well so might even get better once it comes to an end. Its great as it is for those looking to switch without any discounts or cashback hassle.

How did they manage to exclude EU roaming? I thought it was a legal requirement
This is a vodafone basic plan hence even EU roaming is not available!

Would have gone for this but the EU roaming has put me right off as Vodafone charge £6 per day to use your allowance if you don’t have roaming. I pay £20 a month for unlimited calls/texts and 100gb with red ent and roaming which I feel isn’t bad but wanted to lower my monthly as I never use anywhere near 100gb a month. 8gb would be ok for me but like I say no EU roaming changes my mind.

Indeed, if you travel to EU, it is a deal breaker.

I have realized that lowering the monthly pay is very difficult, unless you go for (reliable) cash back deals.

Wouldn’t say I travel often maybe 2-3 times a year for 7 days at a time. So 21 days X £6 per day = £126 per year so I might as well pay my £20 per month and have it all in.

Having said that I just swapped onto this via an upgrade so didn’t go via cashback. Would mean cancelling and re-signing back up with them
How did they manage to exclude EU roaming? I thought it was a legal requirement
Heat added
Smarty (3 network) are doing the same and include roaming for £10 on a rolling month payment plus if you use less than 4gb of data you get cash back the next month.
Also Voxi (Vodafone) regularly do a £10 for 8gb offer and that includes roaming and the excellent unlimited data on social media apps and websites.
Both are unlimited calls and text and also do not require a credit check!

Three have the same plan for £9, and there was £40 Quidco.
Fonehouse has 20gb unlimited texts unlimited mins and entertainment for £10 when cash back is taken into account and for all the cashback doubters you know it's easy to do
Voxi Mobile is the way to go definitely
Won’t the EU roaming mean diddly when Brexit happens? Not immediately but soon after.
Dang! Signed up for a 18 month contract the other day online more expensive! Can I swap to this?

You have 14 days to change your mind, if you signed up less than two weeks ago then yes you could change it. Call them up.

But why not go to voxi?
Is the EU roaming thing legal? Or do they mean you can because its EU law but not in the contract and its bye bye once we leave the EU?
If you;re in the period where you can change handsets but not to a sim only (u have to be at the end of the contract) its well worth talking to them. They stuck me on an £8 contract, gave me a £30 bill credit and also put me on the cheapo contract straight away saving me £80 on the old iphone contract. So fundamentally it was free. I just told them I was moving abroad, would be in the country sporadically and didn't really care if I had a contract or not, and would pay a small amount for the convenience.

My contract expires in 16 days with Voda, do they still offer the upgrade option if you take out a Sim Only contract?
Edit: found out that you can't with this basic deal, nor use Advantage scheme.

Most providers (3, EE, O2, voda) say that they have no plans to introduce roaming charges, nicely caveated just in case.

The Vodafone basic plan is allowed because it's a UK only sim, the regulations don't apply to them since there is no roaming on them at all.

The regulation is that there can be no roaming charges in the EEA, but this plan just excludes roaming entirely.

If they are still advertising the deal online (which they are), and it allows you to purchase, then it is still a valid deal. This is an upgrade from 3gb so it’s likely it will state that on documents but you’ll get some kind of add on which gives you the extra 5gb. If you don’t, then complain as they have miss sold you by advertising at 8gb
According to Vodafone, if you can’t find the deal direct on their website and not via a 3rd party website the deal is not valid. I argued it for almost an hour and gave up.
Definitely did not state 8GB in the confirmation email, only 3GB and then get told by Vodafone it is not a valid deal. If you cannot find the deal direct on their website and only via a 3rd party website the deal is not valid. I argued the point for almost an hour.
