Stayed at this hotel, it's nice and a bargain. One word of caution do not ignore the warning signs on the beach and go for a walk, it's a dangerous place outside the hotel grounds.

Yeah, plenty with the discount for the hotel. Just reasonable flights you need to find on sky scanner or similar. Discount on hotel is company-wide (Dominican, Jamaica, Mallorca & Tenerife) plenty of resorts also.

Yeah it’s called grand Bahia principe San Juan. It shouldn’t require any codes or anything. The extra 8% comes once you sign up to the loyalty program.

Would be nice if the person elaborates on this....
Stayed at this hotel it was alright like but when you think of dominican republic this isnt what you expect, atlantic side too so dnt expect clear blue seas it wasnt really nice to swim in when i went most days had a red flag
He he, early November... Don't forget raincoats and warm clothes, especially during night

I agree as i’ve been the Dominican republic and didnt experience this, so very interested in this persons story....
I have been to this hotel, the only problem we encountered was at the weekends, like a lot of hotels in the DR they allow weekend guests (locals) and they over run the the place.......

having said that this is a great price.

If you leave the hotel grounds (we didnt at this hotel) you will need to be cautious like any where else in the world there are some not so nice people, and you will be a target because you are a tourist with loads of money.

Most of the Dominicans I have met in the DR (been about 15 times) are very friendly, but there always a few that spoil that........
Any deals for Bahia in Jamaica? A similar price would be perfect for me and my family

There is a hotel with this kind of discount in Jamaica if you click on the link in the description and search through the destinations. however still not quite as cheap as this. Also Jamaica is notoriously more expensive flights. Any particular reason you’d prefer Jamaica to Dominican Republic (out of curiosity)?
9 days at Puerto Plata for the same price we paid for 2 weeks at Iberostar Dominicana in Bavaro. Sorry that’s not a good deal.

Bavaro has a terrible beach tho. Nothing like the pictures . Sea weed everywhere and its on the pacific not the carribbean
I don't think those flights are still available, double the price for me.

I've stayed in Punta Cana, on the beach on my own without family, very close to the big resorts but not staying at one. It is definitely full of local colour outside of the resorts, it is fun, but even as a male travelling alone, I did feel anxious at times, and was warned by locals to be wary. I've also traveled around the island, again, on my own without family which I loved. You would have to keep your wits about you at night in the local bars in Punta Cana, but slightly more so I think than other big cities as there is a huge discrepancy between 'rich' tourists and locals as this definitely isn't a 1st world country. Also, for info, all the resorts in Punta Cana have armed guards on their entrances as did the local liquor store. I do appreciate this isn't Punta Cana, though.

I've just checked Google Maps, if you get the flights mentioned into Punta Cana airport, it looks like a 4.5 hour plus transit: Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) to Grand Grand Bahia Principe San Juan which is a long way.

Heat added for the other Grand Bahia resort sales info around the world - thanks, OP.

well it is but bavaro beach is one of the best on the world , would say 1st and it is light blue like in the pictures unless storme comes than yes plenty of black "grass" and colour is more green but still nice
beach was cleaned daily by staff in my hotel- bavaro barcelo palace
and beach is so white like nowhere -it is not sand but dead corals in pieces i think

Just to follow up we stayed in Punta Cana and yes there are armed guards at each hotel on main doors/ entrances as well places you wouldn’t think such as where the hotel meets the beach. So security is tight. However the issue around food poisoning is one to make sure you google a d read up as Dominican Republic is known for this at certain hotels and there has been large public incidents of this.

Yes we also encountered this 1st hand as well
You have just checked flight prices for 1 person and hotel for two people so looks misleading.

heat added anyways for the hotel discount.

Terrible compared to Puerto Plata? You can’t be serious. You must have got really unlucky, every time we’ve gone the beach was pristine, only saw lots of seaweed for a couple days when we went in April 2015 but the hotel staff were working tirelessly to remove it. Last year we went to Bayahibe on the Caribbean coast and the beach was awful, it felt like builders sand. I lost a toenail there 2 days into our stay when I fell over the rocks sticking out of the sand so I might be biased but I’m not going back to that place ever again 33047654-gCwqz.jpg
This sounds a fantastic place. Armed guards to protect you from lunatic locals and a high risk of food poisoning.
Hhmmmm.... think I will go Butlins.

I very much doubt that. I stayed at Bavaro at the end of October/early November 2017 and the weather was fantastic, daytime was about 30°C and nights were about 22-24°C.
We stayed there and this was the outcome.Holiday from hell: The Bahia Principe hotel in San Juan, Dominican Republic, where nearly a thousand British tourists fell ill with food poisoning in a single year. Tour operators have paid out more than £5.5m in compensation just Google it and you'll read all about it. It featured on holidays from hell...

DR was bad enough 12 years ago when I was food poisoned there. The only 'guards' at the time were the maids at the entrance to the restaurants providing hand sanitizer to help prevent illness. Armed guards now? Butlins it is for me too!
I wouldn’t go back to Dominican. As others have said there is an uncomfortable feeling as the resorts are security controlled. Food is average and can’t drink the tap water. Went out the complex once and felt very unsafe.
Sounds like the place is a sh*thole!
