Nokia has just reduced the price of Nokia maps 3.0 navigation for phones not supported by the free offer. Please do not come and say this has already been posted for free, it hasn't. This is a different offer.

Drive Europe - 1 year - £8.89
Traffic Europe (Cams, traffic) - 1 year - £3

Now devices such as N95, N82, 6210 Navigator, N96 etc can get Nokia maps for a far cheaper price. Its not as good as the free deal, but we can't get that and this is a reduction of 90%!

Nokia removed the option to buy the licenses online a while back i think, if anyone finds a link please post.

Has to be done direct from phone i think or possibly maps updater.

Maps get great reviews, now great value for money. Highly Recommended

Why not just change your phone?

Why not just change your phone?

thats what nokia wants.

for a start, my phone is the 6210 navigator i bought it for the navigation and at the time, it was the top phone for the job. Ive had it one year and already nokia are trying to force me to upgrade. It would also be more costly to upgrade my phone 12 months into a contract than buy a new license.
Previously i was looking at £67ish for both. and i though to myself, tom toms go for that price nowadays so whats the point. Now its £11.

at this price however, ill happily buy a license

How much bandwidth does this app. use?, and does it store what it downloads to become more-or-less a stand-alone application (using the same maps after a while?) ;-) Looks great on paper but if it's contacting the Nokia server all the time for directions and maps could be a bit of a damp squib...

Download the maps to your phone using the map loader utility so no need to have an internet connection.

I assume that Nokia will soon make this free for all phones though.

maps are downloaded on computer, then used offline so there is no need for a data connection on the phone its self! the uk map takes up about 300mb i think but ill check and get back to you.

traffic (inc cams) wont need data connection for the speed-cameras but obviously traffic you would but this is an add on feature.

Likewise, POI stored offline, however you can search through way more online with a connection. Also a connection is better as u can use A-GPS.

But a data connection is by no means necessary and its a great app without. Maps are stored offline, no need for a data connection.

Im not sure, see most people don't understand. All it would take would be the flick of a switch. So the fact that they have made this so cheap makes me think otherwise. Besides, id rather pay £11 to secure a year's worth and see what has developed in a years time than wait month after month without sat nav for the free version which may never come... its only £11.

yup i agree. Personally thought this would be scorching. Oh well thanks for the heat and stuff anyway

I hadnt realised this was so cheap now, as mentioned its a shame that all phones werent included in the free offer but this is a good start :-)

Out of curiosity, has anyone tried Ovi Maps overseas? How good is the GPS onits own (as I wouldnt want to use Data in europe, expensive) when compared to a standard TomTom or Garmin? I suppose it depends on the phone/GPS chip but I know they areall A-GPS (assisted) and im not sure how god they are without the "assistance"
