Yup, I posted a deal last week about another trustfire, very similar torch, but this one seems to be the best of the bunch (e.g. has an aluminium reflector as opposed to plastic, more and better reviews) so I thought I would post this torch in its own deal post.

Come on now. In my opinion DX is great - with some caveats - but I don't think it is on to make a new thread for every good product they sell.

I nearly posted this dealextreme.com/det…189 in a new thread, and a few dozen other DX items I have bought just to make an ironic point but I decided that would be silly so I didn't.

19189 is a great torch though, good quality with just the right number of output settings IMHO, highly recommended.

Cree?
Is it only for Jaffars?

I respectfully disagree.

I am not posting a 'good' deal from DX, IMO this is the best 900 lumen torch on there, so I am posting the 'best' deal from DX, which IMO warrants a new post.

And in regards to the torch you mention, I believe this one is better, I am not a torch expert so cant give you a definite answer on why, but e.g. the use of an aluminium reflector as opposed to a plastic one, is one of the reasons why I believe this to be the best 900 lumen torch on DX.

The 19189 has an aluminium reflector as well. So do some of the other Cree flashlights on DX.

Trawling the DX can be a little confusing though and knowing what is a good product is difficult. Your post shows exactly the problem and just demonstrates, IMHO, why posting DX "deals" - when they are always that price - is somewhat pointless.

Hmm, maybe its just the way I am reading it, but I believe, a difference between:

Reflector: Aluminum Textured/OP Reflector (from the torch you posted)

and:

textured/OP aluminum reflector (the trustfire torch in the initial post)

Sounds to me like the former is aluminium textured, i.e. plastic, whereas the second is textured aluminium.

Quite frankly words almost fail me.

The 19189 has a reflector made of aluminium, well mine did six months ago when I looked, maybe the pixies snuck in and swapped it when I wasn't looking, I'll have to check.

The basis for this is a review of one of the other 900 lumen torches which says "Aluminum Textured/OP Reflector" with a review where someone wrote one of the improvements they would like to see is an aluminium reflector, let me see if I can find it.

can any torch officianado illuminate for us what difference the diameter of the head and so reflector makes? e.g. the torch in the original post has a 5.5cm head diameter, a lot of the other 900 lumen torches at 4.5cm and below.

The site states the battery time is about 1.5 hours, does any one know if this is the reality?
Will the battery hold the charge if it is not used, or will it slowly drain over time without usage?
