Why didn't they just do an auto reduction across the board nationally. …Why didn't they just do an auto reduction across the board nationally. Your explanation makes no sense. Tesco can reduce an item barcode across all stores. A yellow sticker is when a local manager decides to make some space.

From my distant past at Tesco, each store is given a rating as to what they stock (split further by department). Therefore each store looks to have a bespoke range of goods compared to the next store (mostly determined by the size of the store but also on demographics). That's why some items will never be in some stores.

When Tescos re-aligns their product range, some products fall out of scope for a store category or possibly out of Tesco's range altogether. This is the reason for the store-specific reductions in that a store may:

a) still have it as part of their range (not discounted);
b) now no-longer have it as part of their range and have some to get rid of (discounted);
c) now no-longer have it as part of their range but have none in stock (no discount and won't be stocked);
d) now no-longer have it as part of their range but could transfer stock to another store who still stock it (no discount);
e) it was never in their range (no discount and won't be stocked).

Therefore, often these are very low-stock items, not worth transferring and just need 'getting rid of'. The other thing to mention is that store managers generally have little input input into most areas of what is stocked. They would get heavily involved in the promotional ends (especially seasonal and BOGOFs) and they also have jurisdiction over bringing something in that is not technically in-scope for their store (eg: I used to work in both Slough & Reading stores and they both had large areas for seasonal goods).

Finally, the discounts that we see on HKUD could well be a 'hit' to the specific store's profit and so it's the manager's discretion whether they want to discount or not. It's purely a guess but the reason for a yellow sticker may be due to b) above. Discounting nationwide would affect a) above and so they use the sticker route instead.

Apologies if this seems condescending (it's not meant to be) but hopefully it might help someone understand the situation (if they haven't worked in stock control in Tescos - they used to call it FMC - File Maintenance Control). Of course, it might be different now and I don't know if other supermarkets follow the same idea. There's always an exception to the rule but it's the general idea.

Bottom line is that it's luck of the draw. My largest local store (New Malden) is large and so discounts there will generally only fall under a). Always good to see people benefiting though!
Let's give some context

the set OP posted is super cheap but seems store specific to where OP bought and OP seems to have taken every last one. So draw your own conclusions if the post is helpful or just gloating

the other chap with his conveyor belt of deals only did moderately well by comparison, some of his sets were only 50% but at best 70%. He also seems to have swept everything, left nothing. Again take your view on helpful or gloating

Yes as you can see by price differences above its different in different places, all sold at £15 online, so that theoretically should be the highest price in store, don't blame my post blame ur store, what's left in stores will have own prices will probably be reduced more until gone!

I think you’ll probably get slated more for taking all the stock in what’s probably a store specific deal then posting it when no one is going to be able to get it. Great price though.

It's almost 600 degrees. It's not been slated at all.

So co-incidentally all these local managers have decided to mark down the series 17 minifigures on the same day have they?

Some things slip through national reductions.
Any evidence please, this deal is not existent. False heat/goose chase.

Heat added- I paid £15 pre-Christmas iirc, I am lucky in the fact that I have about 5 stores close to me (2 Superstores, 3 Express oh and I nearly forgot an Extra one as well!)
I doubt there will be any bargains in any of them!
The last time I took an item (it was a video baby monitor) to the till for a price check (it was on the shelf, with others, but no pricing) I was told it wasn;t for sale and it shouldn't be on the shelf!

How many "local managers" do Tesco employ throughout the UK?

I'm.going to pluck a random number out my head of ,..................... Let's say 300, and how many stores do Tesco have.

I'm pretty sure it's many more than that.

Remind me,.......,.......... How many of these Lego mini figure yellow sticker deals are there on here, I see 2. But I'm open to correction.

You are saying "local manager" as if I came up with it, those were your words. Every store has a manager for non-food, or stock control, whichever one you feel like.

In each of the two posts about the figures you have multiple people claiming various different reduction levels, because the managers get some say in how much to mark them down. Some try to only knock a little bit off, some slap a 90% on them straight away and call it a day.
Wonder when my Tesco manager will turn crazy to put these prices on🤔
What’s the barcode on the box?
