Nothing 'odd' about it, to some people who aren't as well off as you, 100 quid for one night is ridiculous money. Nothing wrong with travel lodge either and I love nothing better than a chicken mayo and caramel sunday myself.

Caramel Sunday? Sounds like a fun day. Do you do it every week?

This is the kind of place you go to for the experience of staying in a beautiful castle. I'd pay for this but I wouldn't pay the same for a city based Hilton or Marriot.

Then again, if you enjoy the experience of staying at Travel Lodge and dining in McDonalds then there's no argument and must say I'm pretty envious of your low standards.

Well I must say I'm not at all envious of you as I can't stand snobs who look down on people who have less money than they do. Feel sorry for you actually.

Are you really saying that you would go to a travelodge in the middle of nowhere just to enjoy staying on their premises?

The only thing I'm looking down upon right now is your lack of comprehension.

I get to sleep in a castle? HOOOOOT

99 is worth it just to see this part of Scotland. loch fyne is stunning

£99 for a night, 3 course dinner, bottle of wine to the room and breakfast. Even taking the Travelodge/McDonalds/LIDL plonk route would end up costing around the £80-90 mark.

This is an absolute bargain.

Seems nice but looks like a nightmare to get to!

Waiting for Fraggle Rock to appear

Stayed there a couple of years ago - wouldn't go back if you paid me.

This price isn't bad but I can't recall anything positive from my stay.

Maybe taking the 2 night option for £159 would be better.

My uncle used to live about 4 miles from this place.

Not somewhere you're going to pull off a motorway sliproad and drive into ..... but the (long, windy) drive to get there is a hell of a lot more scenic than most.

Great deal for what it is. We just booked a similar thing in a castle hotel just south of Loch Ness and paid a lot more than this. Heat from me.

So what were the negatives?

nice deal shame is such a darn long drive

Probably never got his hole!

Loch Fyne - beautiful area, only an hour from Glasgow, this is a GREAT deal!!

HEAT ADDED

New Calmac ferry to Campbeltown and then 45 minute drive north is the easiest way to go, but not cheap.

Otherwise 2 hour drive or 3 hour bus from Glasgow.

Great deal, but way more than an hour from Glasgow.

Indeed. Two hours plus is a bit more realistic. And that goes up if you get stuck behind a truck/tractor/campervan/lost tourist/Mrs Brady, Old Lady ........ windy roads with not a lot of overtaking points out that way!

There was plenty odd (although I'd suggest more likely trollish) about it. Are you honestly suggesting that spending £100 for two to stay and eat for a night is a rip off no matter what? If not, you're arguing with someone with whom you agree and if not then it would seem to me that you can't comprehend the difference between something you would be willing to spend the money on and something that is a good 'deal' but not the deal for you.

There are some fantastic replies to the users who are trying to slate this deal or are grammatically challenged... well done to those of you who have shot them down in flames!!

I think this deal is fantastic value, so heat added from me.

A brilliant deal, and so glad there are plenty out there who don't realise that. More room for those who do. I can't afford it these days on a state pension - but then I've paid far more (when working) for some crappy city hotel with filthy decor, no dinner or breakfast. And set among some of the loveliest scenery in Great Britain. Heat added

Me and my wife have stayed here. Lovely place, even better food. If you get a Loch view you are lucky as it is stunning. The view from the dining room cannot be beaten; one of the best views from any restaurant I've been to.

However................this place does not feel like a "Castle". It is quite small, and although plush and regal, it has seen better days in some areas. Is it worth it for this price? Absolutely.

It is a bit of a treck to get to, but if you aren't in a rush it is a lovely drive. It involved two ferries (we took the route via Dunoon and Tarbert) and would take nearly 3 hours from Glasgow that way (less road miles, longer time).

You would say that, you joined the same day that this hotel was last on here. (_;)

I'm sure there's no connection between you and the hotel/web site.

This hotel deal has been put on here 3 times by the same person. When does it become spam ? Also a few of the people who are bragging this deal up don't appear to have posted on anything else ever.

Just saying.

However.........

it gets pretty good revues on tripadvisor and it is indeed in a lovely part of the country.

I just don't like self promotion on here.
