Some things to be aware of re: Plusnet.

They don’t support 5 digit text short-codes so there’s no interactivity with TV programs etc. and if you need short codes for banking you will be stuck.

The awful “basic voicemail” that didn’t capture the number of callers who left voicemails has thankfully just been upgraded / fixed. 🏻 I think they are now using EE’s voicemail facility.

The customer service I’ve experienced has always been pretty good, however appreciate that may not be everyone’s experience so YMMV. I’ve got myself and 2 other family members with them, and we have chopped and changed products as offers have come up several times with no hassle.

I was expecting those comments Tbf, good to have them as not everyone knows about that deal, and people may be OK with Smarty.

Depends where you are, we had no three signal round our way had to okay up my daughters contract three years ago. now it’s excellent just moved my son to smarty after friends said they had excellent speeds, month in all good and £30 cash back.
7GB £9 for existing customers without broadband. May as well go for 10GB for the extra pound.

I don't quite get what you said about short codes for banking. Surely you're not supposed to SEND text messages to your bank. They do send you one or two every now and then to notify you of certain actions.
Have you come across banking service that requires such action?

Depends on your bank. Many require you to reply Y or N to confirm a transaction for example. Though in my experience those generally use normal mobile numbers as opposed to short codes.
Decided to get an extra 3Gb for an extra quid!
Good deal but no 4G voice calls (VoLTE) as far as I know...the wife has been with them a few years, seems ok.

Got 9GB for £6 odd equivalent. 12 month.

£10 a month and £47 Quidco cashback.

Just a few minutes ago I had a message from Barclaycard querying transactions on my card.

They came via a 5 digit text address which Plusnet won't let me respond to.

My card will now be blocked until I manage to get to actually speak to someone!

Am actively searching for a new provider that supports this.

Barclaycard just used a short code to detail transactions they were querying on my card. I'm stuck because I can't respond.

That's a shame. Major issue with Plusnet.

Question, if I want to get a PAC from Plusnet can you use the sms option which you supposedly send to 65075?

If they don't support short code sms then it makes a mockery of this new option!

Thank you for coming back to me.
I guess one will have to steer clear from applying for a Barclaycard if registered Mo ile number is with Plusnet.
Alternatively guess you can call to confirm which is bit of a hassle.

They support it just for that service, nothing else.
Plusnet would have to give me a free Mercedes c63 AMG for me to renew my broadband with them when my contract expires. Horrid shocking broadband speed, feels like 1998 again, may as well be on dialup at times
These people complaining about no short codes - a question.

I've Been with Three for years, so have many of my family, and I've never come across any problems with short codes ( or anything for that matter) not being allowed. The only exception was when my daughter capped her sons spending to £0.00. She did this to stop him buying loads of games and apps (£60+ spend taught her a lesson). This stopped many things happening, reset to £5 and all ok Spain.
Have you checked that you haven't got this setting on your phones?
New customers can also get 9gb for £10 a month via uswitch. I have been with them 2 years and no problems so far.

9GB, Unlimited minutes and texts for £10 per Month on a 12 Month plan ( £36 cashback 2 days left)

topcashback.co.uk/plu…le/

Also retentions have offered me 8gb with unltd mins & texts for £8.

I'm on a 20gb for £21 with Plusnet. They offered me that when I tried to leave for Three.
I've been texting to Planet Rock's Cash Register over Xmas. That's short code isn't it?
This is an amazing deal, I’m on Plus net and as others have said the lack of short codes and wifi is a pain though

Not really had any issues with plusnet broadband with them on my second year. I guess it depends on the area and how the equipment capacity is managed.

how? it says £12 per month for that on tesco mobile website.
Even with £70 TCB it's still £6.16
I'd love to get that deal for £4.40

Be aware, plusnet claim they share the EE network which is not completely true. They only have access to certain wavebands. My work phone is EE and personal is Plusnet and the coverage is no where near as good.

Unfortunately it's a Plusnet limitation and they aren't too forthcoming about if or when they may support short codes. It comes down to the cost of implementing the facility from what I gather.

In my post higher up I mentioned the problem I was having with Barclaycard and not being able to respond to their text messages.

They blocked my card but fortunately the next morning I got an automated phone call from them where I could confirm that the transactions were valid and my card was reactivated 10 minutes later.

I've been checking reception on Three by me and it's better than Plusnet so I feel inclined to switch.

I'll make sure I set up the account with some credit to cover the cost of short code messages though.

Thanks for the info.
