9V lithium battery (ideal for smoke alarms) £1.44 Screwfix c&c

These are great for hard-to-access smoke alarms, I think they generally last ten years or more. They are usually £5+ each, so a good deal. My local had one to collect immediately, but the price is valid for the next-day collection too.

Yes, cheaper, but not lithium. So not really a direct comparison.
Your local fire service may fit you alarms with 10 year batteries in? Worth giving them a call
Great price, have some heat...

As mentioned, those are alkalines (so 1-2 years), the deal is for lithium cells which have a much higher capacity.
Heat these are £6 in B&Q. (Some people obviously don't know much about batteries)

i know what you mean, it's ridiculous. who'd have thought someone could replace a gearbox in a car, put a new ceiling up in the bedroom, diagnose and replace a faulty part in a boiler, landscape a garden, fit a whole new kitchen with appliances and complete rewiring, all in the last 18 months, but not spot the difference between a lithium and an alkaline battery. i mean, what is the world coming to.

Just to add a little aggravation to your day- that'll learn should be that'll teach!
Ps. I hope all your herculean tasks are still functioning well.

Lithium batteries normally have a very long shelf life. Over 8 years and more is not uncommon, so at this price, well worth stocking up.

Actually that'll learn is a fairly common phrase round here. I have no idea if round here is also round there, but it could well be.
DEFINITION

That'll learn ya
Norfolkslang for 'that will teach you'.
Yo, I caught V.D from your mom.

That'll learn ya!

DEFINITION

That'll Learn'em
A slangterm usually uttered by rednecks that literally means " That will teach him", or "that should teach him a lesson". Its a contraction of the grammatically incorrect phrase "that will learn him".
Somebody at work keeps stealing my lunch, so today i brought in a bowl of spit-snot-soup. That'll learn'em to take things that don't belong to him.

You'll be the laughing stock in Screwfix now, better stick to Travis Perkins! Give me a shout if you want my expertise on fire extinguishers when your smoke alarm packs in.

2026.
They have a 10 year shelf life
Manufactured 2016
Same here, picked a load up at this price. Expiry date June 2026. Once again, thanks OP, great find.
Who knew that a battery would cause world war 3
Just installed in (mains/battery) smoke alarm which specifies to only use Duracell... and they work fine... have tried non-duracells in the past and some do bleep low battery alarm straight away. Only another 20 to do. Great find thanks
Still a few out there - got last one in Havant
