Not expecting this to be hot, but just been looking over cashback options for different breakdown cover, made a shortlist of what to go for & thought I might as well share it. I've only looked on topcashback, prefer this to quidco because of the option to cash out in clubcard points. Link goes to topcashback for RAC... just search in topcashback for the others.

RAC (possibility of getting Amazon voucher at racwinteroffer.co.uk/Reward. Terms state not applicable with cashback, but may work)

Vehicle
Roadside assistance
£27.99 - £9.50 = £18.49

Personal (any car, even if passenger)
Roadside assistance
At home
£85.99 - £45 = £40.99

Vehicle
National Recovery (take you & 7 passengers on to destination)
£76.99 - £33.99 = £43

Personal (any car, even if passenger)
Roadside Assistance
National Recovery (take you & 7 passengers on to destination)
£99.98 - £45 = £55

AA
Vehicle
Roadside assistance (only 2 times per year)
£28 - £9.50 = £17.50

Vehicle
Roadside assistance (unlimited callouts)
National recovery (take you & 7 passengers on to destination)
At Home
Up to 20% off Burger King & Costa
£110 - £57 = £53

Green Flag
Vehicle
Roadside Assistance (unlimited)
National recovery (take you on to destination)
At home
Misfuelling cover
Onward travel (hire car / hotel if can’t be fixed)
£60 - £13.65 = £46.35

There are of course other options from not so well known brands (I understand "Autoaid" do a great value deal for partners for £42) but these are the ones I looked at as feel more comfortable using a big name brand personally.

Thanks
Just as a FYI, Green Flag also cover non mechanical breakdowns (like having no fuel, stuck in snow/mud/flood, etc), and will recover you home at night and then again to the garage the next day for no extra cost (rather than leaving your car outside a closed garage).
Can someone make the thumbnail bigger? Haha
yes thank you, this is some really great info
Nationwide FlexPlus still better with all the perks when you switch.

Breakdown linked to a banking product does not always offer the same full range of benefits as going direct, worth checking.

For the many years I was an AA member, I was never recovered by an AA truck. That's mainly why I left, I wasn't getting the 'big name brand'. I can maybe understand it when I'm on 2 wheels, but 4 wheeled transport should be their 'bread and butter'. I was getting the 'bodgett and scarper' recovery vehicles but at the AA premium.

I'm going to look at this and see if it would be cheaper to have than my Santander 1,2,3 account - since the monthly fee has gone up to £5, I'm only making 13p a month on it. I usually do my family travel insurance just for one holiday a year to Europe. I cancelled the phone insurance as it was costing me too much (4 phones - 1 for me, the others for my children) - between £6.99 and £7.99 for each phone a month). I currently have full break-down cover with Start Rescue but that is due for renewal on 3 February.

If I change to this account, what happens about the mobile phone insurance when the contracts were all taken out in my name, but 3 of the phones are looked after/used by my 3 teenage children (all under 18 - reason the contracts were taken out in my name). Would the insurance company still pay out if say, my oldest son lost his phone away from home and I wasn't with him - seeing the phone contract is in my name?

As regards changing over, I have a lot of direct debits for monthly bills going out of my account. How long does it take for everything to be changed over? I have direct debits going out each week in the month, so surely for some of them, they wouldn't be paid if the bank hadn't set up the new account in time - would I be charged a fee (for an unpaid DD) by the company that the monthly payment was due to go to? Thank you.

I just renewed through KwickFit for £18.58 for breakdown and national recovery for the year. Got the same cover last year but nearly chocked when they sent me a renewal for £87 this year so phoned them up and got it at same price as last year.

Usually takes less than a week - full switch.
Crap prices quoted AA - £28 - 2 calls outs to car only, no recovery, no nothing - You get what you pay for.The first recovery price is £128 which you will need as an essential if you break down - unless you have your own tow truck. Been checking these prices all week and what is covered all the big names are not covering the essential unless you pay for it.

Haha thanks. You snooze you loose lads. Sooo umm off to cash converters??
Just a heads up for anyone nor aware. Many of these companies, "help" you by auto renewing, be very careful. I got full AA cover last year for around £80 after Quidco, the renewal has just come through and I think it needed a HGV to bring it, £266!!!!! This is for a 14 month old car too, robbing gits!!!
So, do you get £100 if you don't go through a referral? Then, if you go through a referral, you get an additional £100 for yourself, and the other person gets £100? I can't see on their website any mention of you getting £100 for changing over to their bank account - can you do this if you don't have somebody to refer you?

Also, still confused about DDs unpaid when they are sorting out your new account. It says that if your credit rating is affected, they will amend this - once in the process of changing over your bank account. What about any fees for unpaid DDs with your old bank account which go out during the 7 day period? Are you still able to use your old bank account for the first 6 days of the change over - if not, does that mean that any funds in your old bank account can't be touched for 7 working days whilst they are doing the switch? Thank you.
