I have one of these as a router for my FTTP connection running pfSense. If you want to make it quieter then I recommend replacing the CPU fan with a Noctua NF-R8 redux-1800 PWM and change the case fan to something like an Arctic F9 PWM fan (tried the Noctua as a case fan but motherboard complained about fan not being present).
Stick a nice GT 1030 in it...oh wait, I'm not going there again....

It's got PCI Express, you can fit a low profile gfx card. USFF PC you can't.

Naw I just posted a deal about a 1030 and got panned was all, I use 2 like this with GT 1030s just for media. (same spec that is)
Works nicely I have to say.

From this deal click.....? That GT 1030 is expensive for what you get. I'd probably buy a used i.e GTX 750 2GB for less.

I had one of these a few years ago with a low profile 1050ti

If I was to do it again on a budget I would save a little more and get a AMD Ryzen 3 3200G with cheap as possible remaining parts, it isn't much more once you factor in a 1030 or 1050 LP into the price for this.

Then you have warranty on new parts and upgradability to a better Graphics card like the refurb 580's posted on here for around £99 in the future.

And the ssd would be a M.2 building yourself as they are now dirt cheap.

Still a cracking hot deal it's just not a good deal as it once was imo.
Anyone know that M/B it has this will give more better info in tems of expansion etc
Any good for emulation?
Yeah but this PC is a complete system for £83.70. Find me a NUC or a 3200g system for that ? It's perfectly good for a home PC, mostly the speed is from the SSD it's not a games machine. I just like sticking 1030 due to the performance/wattage of it, even if its overpriced I care about the wattage more. You might not, but normally it's only got a 250 watt PSU, and at 80% (Assuming its bronze which is probably not) that's only 200 watts for everything, and generally speaking these tend not to be your average PSU you can buy to replace. The TDP of the chips is 55 watts by itself, inc mother board etc you'd be pretty much topping it with much of a graphics card.

"Yeah but this PC is a complete system for £83.70 + the cost of a 1030", corrected it for you
Will this be good for hosting your own server on (cough...cough...minecraft)? My initial thoughts are that it would be decent price/performance. Asking for a friend

Yes perfectly fine.
seems like a good deal - what's the LAN card speed, do you think? 10/100/1000?

A desktop computer is perfectly capable of being a server for non-business critical tasks. The silly thing is this PC is more capable at being a Minecraft server than the second server in your link which has a G3220 and half the memory.

Have to say I've never encountered memory corruption on any of my many PC's in the last few decades. I daresay a Minecraft server doesn't need ECC...

If you wanted ECC server RAM then upgrade it then, i3-4170 supports it. Or you can also upgrade to a Xeon CPU.
