I'd add a second hard drive, to store the games on. And maybe bump the graphics card up a model or two as suggested above. The 1660 6gb would be a better card IMHO.

Yes (2600x and AMD 590) but not sure if it comes with copy of Windows 10. Otherwise you have to look for copy online. You can find key for about £5-10. Price doesn’t include price of monitor which varies between £100-150 24inch. But since he is 14 would be cheaper to buy console. Or wait for Black Friday sales.

He has a ps4 and xbox one. He plays games with keyboard and mouse attached to xbox so wants an actual gaming PC

Win 10 Pro key £2.93 here. It was 60p cheaper from same seller when I bought one in August.

I accept no responsibility if the key doesn't work or gets revoked at a later date, but my experience was good.
I used these guys for a Win10 Home license.
Code was emailed before my payment verification window had finished (and activated absolutely fine)...
Impressed for under three quid (well, ₱236 - I had some left on my Monzo card after my last trip).

Brilliant computer for the price as well as @tankdeal's suggestion. Heat.
I'm looking for something like for Christmas but a little tight on space as I'm sharing a bedsit.
Does anyone know what kind of premium for an equivalent laptop version like this cost?

I don't know so much about customising PC's, but could you explain why would you get the 2600x over the 2700x? Is it simply to upgrade the graphics at a lower cost or is there some other reason?
This looks a decent deal, but just want to know more.
Looks pretty good. Take the cpu down to 2600x (I have one already would just sell my current one) put the 1660 6gb gfx card in. Could get rid of the WiFi card but can't shame. Pretty useless things just use ethernet or PowerLine kit. Collect and return warranty is good as long as it actually means something

I can't speak for OP but I imagine it's to save money. The 2700x is a better CPU on paper but you're unlikely to notice a difference when gaming (particularly at the 580/590 kind of level)

Thanks! I had an inkling but I've been out of the PC building game for a while and much has changed!

Now to decide between this and something a little more powerful I can have on buy now pay later on. (Overclockers do that right? Anywhere else I've missed?)
Paid about this much just less for a 2400g and 8gb ram. Heat
I added Geforce 1060 6gb gpu on my old HP Z400 and Fortnite working on it. Turned out to be very cheap gaming PC with 24 gb ram

I'm not great with computers, but looking to replace my current machine. Just for my understanding.. how does this make the machine run better?

It wouldnt make it run faster, it's just the ryzen 7 2700x is overkill for the graphics card, so you could go with a ryzen 5 2600x and not see a performance hit in games

If you wanted the pc for editing though stick with the 2700x

Perfect for his first PC. Will play most anything out at the moment. You shouldn't need to upgrade for a while.

Only thing is hard drive for storage, 2TB ~ £50 that's all

Are you saying downgrading the cpu and upgrading the graphics will give better performance or just better value? Would leaving the cpu and just upgrading the graphics be a sensible option? (Sorry for my ignorance, I'm new to gaming pcs and am looking for a system for my son at around this price point)

Basically, there is no point for a CPU as powerful as a ryzen 7 2700x for an rx 590 so if you downgrade the CPU to the ryzen 5 2600x there will be no noticeable performance impact, this would then mean you could upgrade the graphics card to something better and then you would see a much greater performance increase than sticking with the base specifications. So downgrading the cpu and upgrading the gpu will be a better option for price to performance than just staying with the base spec.
Thank you for taking the time to clear that up for me.
Hey,

I'm looking to get a gaming PC for my son for Xmas, i have a £600 ish budget (could probably got up to £650 at a push) I know nothing really about gaming PC's except that they are expensive Lol

Would this be a good one for him? He wants to play Steam Games on it, but I don't want to get something that isn't going to work very well

**Edit, i had a play around with the custom thing, and I took info from what people have said on here, and come up with this:
Would you change anything here, and is this a good price?

Also has anyone bought from these before, i'm really nervous about spending that much on eBay

  • AMD Ryzen 5 2600X 4.3GHz turbo CPU
  • 16GB DDR4 3000MHz Memory

  • 6GB GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER Graphics
  • 3 Year Collect & Return Warranty
  • 300Mbps Built-in Wi-Fi

That seems quite good for the price, to be honest the only thing that might need an upgrade is the motherbaord if you where looking to upgrade the processor in the future.

Thank you, nope i didn't understand that so thank you for clarifying. So the motherboard B450M thingy-ma-bob is ok for the minute though, but can be upgraded in the future if he wants to? Is that right?

Can you tell i have no clue what I'm doing 😵
