Yes you can get garlic presses cheap (even 10p from Sainsburys) but this one is for true cooks, its super heavy, squeezes every last bit of garlic out, easy to clean and will last a lifetime!

This is the cheapest it has ever been (thanks camelcamelcamel)

True cooks do not use garlic presses my friend we bash the garlic then use the side of knives to pulp it

haha fair point, I've always used your method however wanted a finer pulp so thought would give a press a try.

Also I'm told you don't even have to peel the garlic before squeezing with this.

Yippee......feel like a real cook now, have not used a garlic press for years.

Hurts to admit that after extensive testing (we use a lot of garlic) best so far is a cheapo one from Ikea. This press seems to have a plastic insert which I'm unhappy about ... but I might just try one.

this one is self aware and self cleaning... I think it's made by Skynet.

Can anyone recommend a good pepper grinder?

The cheapest and best I know is the Bodum Nissen Pepper Grinder - nine pounds from this vender (zavvi_outlet ), and sent new, fully wrapped, with good pepper inside. Difficult (and expensive) to find the matching salt grinder --- but that's up to you!

Can you link us to them, as the Lacor ones I have found have no customer reviews unlike the one posted which has plenty of positive reviews. Thanks

Perfect, that's just what I'm after, it's got steel blades rather than the ceramic rubbish. Thanks again.

Call me a pepper troll but bought this one from Amazon a few weeks ago.
amazon.co.uk/gp/…SO9

Cannot remember how much it was but I did not pay £20 for it....must have been a deal from here.

After many years of crap grinders, this one appears to be the best so far.....but can only tell after 6 months use really.

I have this press, bought it from John Lewis for more than ~£8 as well. It's decent, although the first press actually sheered at just above the hinge, as in the casting must have had a fracture within it maybe. John Lewis instantly replaced it so no worries there but obviously a little more hassle if this happens from here...

I think realblender works for lacor oO

Pressing garlic knackers the flavour. Beef up on your knife skills and chop!

Proposed to my fiancee with one of these. As you do.

Arranged garlic pulp into a written proposal? oO

What about a salt shaker....very hard to fine...just a simple shaker for ground salt....

Decided I couldn't choose the 'right' ring... but a garlic crusher? no worries!

Personally ive always used a knife handle , paying this sort of price for a device you will use once or twice a week at the most is a little ridiculous , the wifes mother has a pound shop plastic one which shes had for around 2 years now and still works perfectly.

Voted hot on the price as i cant find this specific one cheaper elsewhere

Voted COLD on the product , either use a knife or buy a cheaper one if you dont think you will use it regularly.

I bought this grinder, it's very good. Previously had an electric Marco P-W one which was useless

I bought this garlic press 3 weeks ago same price same seller on amazon.
Very good quality. Recommended. The press is needed on some variations of garlic use, like making some sort of a sauce with it like my mama taught me.
If you put the garlic inside the food at the time of cooking you can use the knife.
No, you cant put the garlic in the press without peeling it off before. And you shouldn't do it even if you could. The garlic has traces of dirt on it usually. Best to keep dirt out of your food.

Lazy Garlic??? YUK, might as well throw away your tattie masher/ricer and eat Smash as well!!

Got this morning and its very solid and the plastic piece is only to push the garlic out of the tiny holes. Good purchase.

M&S do a really good basic one for like £1.50 (can't find it on their website)
It's actually miles better than one of the fancy OXO branded ones I've tried.

Presses are hard to clean and eventually they all break. I bought a garlic rocker recently and love it.

Also recently bought the German WMF pepper grinder with the button at the top and it seems pretty well-engineered too.
