I used to love railroad tycoon from sid meier and played it many times …I used to love railroad tycoon from sid meier and played it many times over. But I literally never got my head round the 3d interface in tycoons update. Is this any good? Maybe I should try and get into tycoons. I just prefer 2d maps!

The best one is Open Transport Tycoon if you like the old style games.
Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe is horrible. You start to play it and when you look at the clock it is 4am

Yeh though the people that get proper into it seem to get obsessed with huge complex junctions covering about four screens. I'm more about shifting huge volumes of freight efficiently across the map.

I liked the challenge of connecting different cities then a competitor hit your station and you had to divert the trains there and then they broke down. And you borrowed lots of money to fund new routes and then interest rates went up! I was only a kid when played it but learnt so much!

Wanted to see the history ot ttd as I really really like Sid Meier as also loved Civilisation on the amiga .. Pirates less so... But he also had a game like a 2d version of splinter cell too where you would go around infiltrating embassies! So many memories! Hope my son is similarly happy playing mimecraft! Mind I was on a spectrum at his age (8) so not quite into simulations and military conquest yet!

Anyhow. These guys said they hated tycoons but loved ttd so will have to try it when I retire and get some free time!

I recently bought A-Train 9 v4.0 in the steam sale, cracking game providing you have the patience for a cruel learning curve.

Transport Tycoon Deluxe was my most favourite PC game of all time back in the day......then graphics developed into some impressive 3D and transverse M morphs and diverse gaming.

Oh I could rattle on all night..........
I also recommend Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe. I got the original one bundled in with Roller Coaster Tycoon. I was thrilled when I discovered the open source version.

It also had Railroad Tycoon II in the set but I never really played it

Might give this game a go. Gonna wait until tonight to see if they upload a worthwhile bundle that also includes a $2 store discount first though...
There's some interesting looking transport Sims on here;
