Not everyone's cup of tea I know but I like a flutter now and then and we all love the Grand National. The RacingPost have quite a few reduced books in their sale section. The next cheapest I can find is £11.04 at Amazon so please let me know if you can find it cheaper.

A little about the book:
A-Z of the Grand National is the official guide to the worlds most famous steeplechase, a monumental work of reference designed to settle all questions relating to the race, while at the same time capturing its extraordinary wealth of drama and romance, of heroic triumphs and heart-breaking failures.

With more than 600 entries, the A-Z of the Grand National records every aspect of the race, from its beginnings in 1839 until the present time. Officially sanctioned by Aintree racecourse, it provides portraits of all its leading protagonists horses, riders, trainers, owners and officials. At the same time, by way of statistical analysis and noted changes in the course and handicapping, it contains valuable information to guide the would-be punter.

The answers to all Grand National questions are to be found in this guide. It is crammed with anecdotes, facts and figures to form the most complete record of the race which every year, uniquely for a single sporting event, commands an audience of more than 600 million television viewers around the globe.

To tell the truth, the National is one of the easiest races to pik the winner based on stats and trends. So this looks a good book for any twice a year punter. Worth the price.

I know how the system works but we all have tips. If Denman runs it'll make Comply or Die and Cloudy Lane have some nice weights, but the ante post prices reflect that uncertainty

No doubt, if Denman runs then half the field will be out of the handicap lol

Dunno how you figure that, but it would be an interesting race for sure.

Well for one he's got unproven stamina and secondly he's gonna carry 12 stones

Remember though, the National weights will no doubt be compressed to keep as many as possible in the handicap proper. In that event, Denman (with a run) would be the proverbial 'good thing'.
In a handicap, would you put Cornish Sett within 28lbs of Denman? Assuming that CS was given 10st10lb for the race, there is no way he could beat Denman with just an 18lb advantage.
Denman will stay, no doubt. If he can drubb Kauto Star in a fast run gold cup, he would be dropped in the first six of the field and just hunted around the first circuit.

I'd go for proven stamina any day, it'll be just like Crisp all over again......

I'd have agreed with you a few years ago, but the national has become an easier race to complete in recent years. 26f around Chelters equates to 30f+ around a flat Aintree track. Denman would only need to stay another half a mile to be in with a really big shout.
However, I think it's academic as I don't think Findley will risk him in the National when he has plenty of grade 1 fare to choose from.

I think he will risk him actually and i would like to see him win so we do have an all time great but i just don't think it'll happen. I'd be soooo happy if was wrong.
