Is this the value stuff? If so, it's terribly poor quality. For an extra 50p per ream you can get 2 X HP premium paper for £5 at Sainsburys usually. Paper is different class to this stuff.

This is just the normal price in Asda.

Noooooo! Don't do that!
A dissertation is a once in a life-time expenditure, do not skimp in anyway.

Forgo 1 measely pint and buy some high quality paper; preferrably 120gsm.

Given that you'll have run up a debt of ~£10-20k through uni, spending an extra few quid on the off-chance that it lands you just half a mark more is money well spent!

you have a point :P

i was thinking about getting it bound professionally (like a book) and i am sure there are places that would print it for me

but i need 3 copies (1 for me and 2 to be marked) so it will all add up

Are you mad? You are going to print your disseration on economy the-cheapest-money-can-buy paper? I was expecting people to say this is OK for normal documents or for around the house stuff, but for something like a dissertation this is most certaintly NOT good enough. As I said you can buy HP premium paper for an extra quid - crazy not to. The Asda paper is so thin, the HP one or other premium ones feel weightier in your hand and nicer to touch and look at.

Do the sensible thing! And good luck with it all

yes asda own brand paper is good for scrap and fine for home use but not anything more

tesco value paper is identical to the HP stuff i used to buy it goes through laser printer no problem and looks and feels the same (in all fairness i have not tried ASDA paper so could be different but been using the Tesco paper at uni for last 3 years without a problem)

i don't have a Sainsburys close so cant get paper from there and the only other source is WHS @ £5 a pack, but next time i do go near one i will stock up if its as cheap as you say

Each to their own i do use both paper have nothing against them but the tesco Value paper is not the same, if you put the Value pack of 500 beside the HP pack of 500 there is a height difference.

I went to Sainsburys this week, the offer had been on for some time but its currently not on offer its £5 for one pack. They have to do this so they can call it an offer when they do reduce it. It usually 2 for £5 or £2.50 each.
