heck... dont get that as a first lens - very awkward focal lengths on this camera
Only £454 with kit lens from amazon so not that great a deal for body only unless u are just after the camera of course.

usually buying with kit lens only adds 50quid so yes its a very good deal (and i think the lowest price ever? not sure)

many people prefer not to get the kit lens as its not amazing, even if it is useful

but thanks for your informed opinion
Edited by: "brilly" 30th Jan
Any recommendations for a wide lens, 35mm equivalent to say 25mm to 28mm

Can you please recommend me a decent lens for this camera, I'm a beginer and this is going to be my first camera
Should be able to pick up the SELP1650 for around £65 as it's often cheaper to buy a kit rather than just body so there's plenty of spares out there.

The Sony 50mm f1.8 is fantastic. The 30mm and 60mm Sigma are also pretty fantastic, although I don't have the 60mm as it's a bit redundant with the 50mm in my collection.
Hmmm... think it's time to change my d3300.

Thanks OP!

UPDATE: Just realised how much the lenses cost. A simple 50mm 1.8 at £250 is pretty steep. Maybe I'm just used to DSLR prices...

Pleasure brilly and unless u have a link for camera and body at £329 then thank you for being a sanctimonious twat.

erm you misunderstood (shocker) i am saying that with your deal you pay 175quid for the kit lens which it isn't worth

you can pick it up for under 100 easily as many dont want it... and those that dont want it can save time and buy this deal at the
cheapest its been

hope this helps you buddy ...you'll get there in the end!

it is a good lens but not as wide as you want - 45mm equiv remember
around your desired range there is the kit lens, sigma 16mm, sigma 19mm, sony 20mm, rokinon 21mm sony 24mm
Anyone who pays the extra £175 for the kit lens version is clinically insane.
Great price, very decent camera for anything that doesn't move too quickly.
Well worth the money.

Thank you OP, you rule!

its 200 at john lewis right now but yeah, lenses aren't cheap
the sigmas are good and cheaper but not stabilsed (is your nikon 50mm?)

Nice, I'll take a look at John Lewis, thanks!

Yeah, my 50mm is a Nikon and it's the 1.4. I love that lens to bits (even though at times I feel I should have gone for a 35mm). I was willing to go for a 1.8 on this sony but I'm wavering.
Edited by: "ualla" 30th Jan
The sigma 30/2.8 is a good buy and lives on one of my sony nex cams.
The 19mm sigma is ok and a 28mm equiv.
Only sony lenses work fully with pdaf - out of the centre, if you need that.

So no good for wildlife pics?
The old Sigma Art 30 and 60mm lenses are pretty decent and cheap.
My favourite lenses for this are the 1670z and the SEL35F18. Well worth the money, in my opinion.

The Sigma 30mm f/1.4 is good, though I don't like the manual focussing on it (if you use manual focus, which I do 90% of the time). The Sony 50mm f/1.8 is pretty good, focusses fast. The Sigma 60mm f/2.8 is a cracker £130 new, even less used. Kit lens is tiny and ok at 16mm for landscapes.

The best thing about the A6000 is how easy it is to use older manual/vintage lenses. I mainly use these lately including Pentacon, Zeiss etc, you can get some amazing lenses for not a lot of money if you're willing to operate manually.

which part are you replying to about wildlife pics? no 50mm is good for wildlife unless its close and/or massive

The bit where you were discussing "things that move quick"

What lenses are good for wildlife pics? I'm a newbie to all this.
I have purchased this but might cancel how much of an improvement is this on a canon 1200d

would love advice from people who know about cameras

ah right ofc - missed that as was in the quote
its still good but then things have come on a bit - not sure which cameras are better for focus now
lenses for wildlife i guess are 55-210 which is at the budget end (200ish) and ok, unfortunately the next jump is 70-300 which is about a grand, then 100-400 at 2.5k

So is that lens a suitable replacement for the kit lens you can get with this camera? Just looking for a decent all rounder.

if talking about primes then 30mm is pretty decent for a general lens yeah
there will be times you want it to be wider/narrower though otherwise there wouldn't be such a thing as a zoom
The Sony 20 is great. The 70/210 is great value

Could someone recommend a good point and shoot for interior photos which is extremely quick and doesn't take too long to focus in poor light?

i take a lot of photos when managing refurbishments. Have a t20 LUMIX which is so slow when it's a little dark.

thanks

What's your budget? You need something with a wide lens and large aperture. Sony RX100 III would probably suit
