This universal emergency fuel cap from AA Car Essentials is just what you need if your fuel cap breaks. The emergency fuel cap can be fitted in seconds, and is suitable for temporary use, as it is not MOT standard. The cap is made out of a tough plastic, and can be added to any make of car.

Do they do an RAC one I don't like the AA?

Reserve and collect?! Put that much effort into getting one and you may as well just get a proper one for your car.

Why would you need one? If you left it at the petrol station whilst filling up maybe. Can't see the point personally. But then I guess someone will put me in my place! And come on, who has ever broken their fuel cap?

Erm, ISTR driving off without putting the cap back on - many moons ago. Plus there was a time when bright shiny chrome petrol caps clearly visible on the outside of a car body were tempting targets for magpies. aka children. aka something less polite. There was no need to buy a cap such as this though, any old bit of cloth would do and there would usually be something suitable under the seats of my mate glod's mini cooper S...

I did manage to leave mine on the roof once when in France filling up. couldnt find anywhere to buy another one so stuck a rag in the hole!

Thankfully the ferry crossing was not too choppy on the way back!

Nowadays they seem to be attached to the car so much less chance of losing one

'broken fuel cap' ? now what are the chances of that ?

Good Price, paid about £4 in Halfords.

Now a days fuel caps are attached by plastic tag
