AA Members Alert
Check the website before renewing!

I have been a member of the AA for three years and received my quote telling me that my membership for this year was going to cost me 47 GBP.
I went onto the AA website to see if it was the same price.
There is a 25% off offer on at the moment and the same cover (Option 100 roadside) is 35.25 GBP which is almost 12 GBP cheaper. That makes a big difference!

The more extensive cover options are also reduced.

I called the AA and they were able to offer me my yearly membership at 37.60 GBP over the phone and could not match the online offer. I will now be cancelling my membership and renewing it online.

Hope this helps any other AA members.

You can also earn 25 GBP cashback from Quidco if the transaction is completed wholly online.

I know what you mean, a similar thing happen with my gf's insurance with the AA. They sent the renewal quote through which was for example £400 and then we did a quick search on confused.com and the AA came back £65 cheaper than they had offered us!!??

You can't trust these boys for offering you the best deals!

Direct Line are the same. You get discounts on the 1st year but none after so I cancel every year and start a new one. It's quite funny when they ask for the details of the no claims from my previous insurers and I say "It was you".

Well done Karen-Angel on an excellent price including the Quidco deal you included in your post!

When you rang up who did you speak to?

Thanks for the feedback! I always worry that I've done it wrong somehow!

I rang 0800 435 980 and listened to the options. I stayed on the line to speak to a rep then picked the option that said "if you are thinking of cancelling your membership, press...."

The rest is history!

the same thing happened 2 me but wiv the rac i had a quote 4 £43.00 so i rang up n said i want 2 cancel coz the aa was cheaper, n they then said i can have it for £29.99 which is the same price as the rac have on there website

I spoke to "retentions" and they knocked 35% off, saved me £70 pounds. So call them and speak to retentions first, you never know. Tell them RAC are cheaper - but dont tell them how much.

If that fails, Quidco and Online it is!

Same here. I got a renewal letter from AA wanting £90+ - went through website & got it for £67 plus £25 via Quidco, making it around 50% cheaper.

My dad had similar with Direct Line for his car insurance, so told him to cancel it and go through Quidco. He is waiting on his £60 cashback and his insurance was £50 cheaper than the renewal!

These companies think that we are all just going to accept the renewal price and not look around for other prices

My AA renewal was £128, on website it would be £92.50, so I rang to cancel and was offered £90 for same cover which I took out.
