EDIT - sounds like you need to have received the invite email form the AA. However if you do try and sign up anyway they do seem to suggest they'll keep you updated.

AA Members - Sign up to the AA's free in car Wi-Fi trial.

There will be no charge for the device or data used over the trial period, and you won't be asked to provide any payment details.

Once you receive the AA In-Car WiFi device you'll have access to a free in-car WiFi trial plan until it ends on 31st January 2015. We just ask that you agree to complete a short online survey via email about your experience once the trial has finished.

This offer is only available to a select few, as our supply of devices is strictly limited, so to get started just sign up today.

I'd check the T&Cs for this the dongle may be free & the data may initially be free but it's unclear how much it will eventually cost... theaa-wifi.com/ter…php

This is just to advertise the free trial, which is a free dongle and data as you mention.

Yes, it's the lack of the word free in the T&Cs as opposed to charges & prices

Thanks OP just signed up

Thank you, signed up also.

Worth it for just the dongle alone, providing there is nothing in the TC's which says you need to pay for it.

As mentioned , it does not say the trial is totally free ?

Just signed up for this but received a phone call from AA in under five mins. Didn't answer it but expect a call I'm guessing!

Payment will be debited to your credit card or debit card at the earlier of the date of dispatch or availability of the Services and in the unlikely event that Voiamo is unable to supply any Services the relevant amounts will be refunded.

dont like the sound of this

Ah, ok, but they do clearly state:

"There will be no charge for the device or data used over the trial period, and you won't be asked to provide any payment details."

The sim card supplier will no doubt hassle you to take a paid plan!

i can see this causing a lot of claims giving people access to easy wifi while driving people say they wont use it while driving but they will

voiamo.com/our…ds/ voiamo is mentioned a lot. looks like its maybe mobi-data version after the trial. £5 for 1gb.

I'm sure a law applies to using devices like, say, eerrrrrrm phones and tablets while driving.

That's not actually bad.

Thanks I've applied for it and I drive a Taxi so can offer my customers the service while driving

Anyone else had an email?

Can't see the point of a device like this, my phone has internet whilst on the move if I want it!
And if I wanted to share my data plan, I'd just get a tethering app!

Tablets and laptops that don't have a data facility? Phone tariffs that don't allow tethering?

Thanks OP! Applied, lets see what happens...

Isn't that the point of the device though? I'm slightly confused.. I thought this was for long journeys so members of the family such as kids can play on the tablets/game console while in the car and have Wi-Fi?

Ive just got the free 2 month EE 100gb data sim, stuck it in a spare phone and then tethering it.

Could also be used for GPS apps that require data on (think google maps still does?)

nice idea, shame I'm not with AA

Not available For Northern Ireland Cold for me !

Yeah ive just applied

I usually use maps on my phone rather than a Sat Nav, connected to a wifi source would be nice
will see how this works

Damn, with RAC. Nice freebie for those who qualify and get selected.

Huh?

This uses a 3G signal to provide WiFi for your other devices I thought? Therefore you would still require a 3G signal

Yep, they'll be able to Google your name & see if you have a dodgy past.

You lot do know that this isn't a magic device which will allow internet access in the car if there is no signal/poor signal, don't you?

There are loads of places and situations where this simply won't work. It is free for the 2 day trial so, HOT.

Thank you for your interest in the AA In-Car WiFi trial.
This particular trial is limited by invitation only to a very small number of selected AA Members.
If you have received an email from the AA inviting you to register please forward this to support@theaa-wifi.com to confirm your eligibility for the trial.

If you haven’t received an invitation, we are conscious of your interest and we will be in touch with WiFi offers in the future once we have established the results of the trial.
Thank you for being an AA Member.
Best regards,

The AA In-Car WiFi Team
