Highland single malt scotch whisky
Nestled within a lush valley in the foothills of the central highlands of Scotland, Aberfeldy is a bastion of traditional whisky making in a region where few distilleries remain.

Mellowed for 12 years in handmade oak casks, this smooth, sweet dram offers rich rewards for those who like to dig deeper.

Scented with spices and honeyed plump fruits. Syrupy, hoarding hints of pineapple with lots of vanilla and fudge with just a whisper of smoke on the finish.

We draw our water from the Pitilie Burn
This has been our home ever since 1898 and one of the reasons the distillery is built where it is due to a plentiful, fresh, pure water supply.

We draw our water from the Pitilie burn; it’s laced with alluvial gold.
Aberfeldy is distilled in Alambique copper pot stills. These help us craft a fruity, classic highland style of whisky.
All our whiskies carry age statements, meaning you know how long our Aberfeldy has been waiting for that first sip.

The site of our distillery was chosen for the railway that linked it to Perth.

Taste Tasting Notes:

Nose: The signature honey aroma is still there and intact but a subtle smokiness appears to have developed adding extra depth.

Palate: Busy delivery with the mildly waxy barley having much to say: spice prickle early on followed by some early chocolate toffee.

Finish: Luxuriant mouthfeel, the honey now tends towards the honeycomb variety and the canadian, but still plenty of toffee which hushes proceedings.

Sweet...
Think it's the same price on Tesco website
Often at this price...average malt and better available at similar prices

I’ve a bottle open and find it very bland and uninteresting. But I think this is more for mass market appeal than your typical Springbank drinker.

It’s a 12 year age statement same price as highland park, I’d go HP over this. But it’s worth a try if you haven’t had it, your mileage may vary, tastes a subjective thing.

Sounds very nice. Tried lots of single malts under £30 when on special. My favourite is glenmorangie 10 years. I love a sweet whisky. How does this compare?

Agree, HP is definitely a better whisky for me.
mynochi30/01/2020 17:36

For example?

Glenfiddich 12 and Glenmorangie 10yr for a start. Highland Park 12 and Old Pulteney 12 also, and this is before we get into the smokey whiskies.
Aberfeldy far superior to any of these IMO, we’re all different!

Absolutely, when was Glengoyne 12 £25? That's a bargain.
My order date was 5 December...great malt
I love a good whisky (whiskey) conflict .....rimming can be very subjective.

What are you on about?
This a pretty run of mill malt, but i did enjoy the bottle i brought at this price.

Some nice Melon notes in here but not overly sweet though.

Good deal. I quite like this whisky more than some of the other 12s at this price.

Stop moaning. You were speaking to yourself. Go look!

Not a great comparison as it's a once in a year price.

This is a great price for a solid whisky.
Shouldn't have been expired as it's still available. Glad I tried the link anyway.
How do you know it's a once a year price ? Are you privy to the future pricing of Glengoyle 12 ? If so please let me know when I can next expect it at this price.
I still maintain Aberfeldy is a bit meh, and at a price which you frequently see.

Hence I don't consider this a great deal.

If you do, crack on and fill your boots

Definitely still available for £25. To be honest though this really is a very average single malt - I've previously described it on here as a bit 'meh'. I got it 2 years ago for £19.99, and it was decent value at that price, but I wouldn't buy it again.
Comment wasn't to you..though you do seem very confused who you seem to be arguing with !
A moderate malt at a price usually available. If that floats your boat

A once in a year price based on it being that price once in the past year.

Come on Einstein.
So you don't know that it won't hit that price in the next 11 months ?
Thanks for confirming that
Please stop posting excellent deals for good scotch. I'll turn into an alcoholic at this rate.
Also this has been on offer more than once a year.

You're hard work ain't ya.

It has been that price once in the past 12 months. It will probably drop again at Christmas. You don't need to take it so literally.

You can give this a go if you like but I wasn't impressed at all. Its just a sherry monster and there's very little going on. Glenmorangie 10 is the benchmark for all whiskies around £25 and is far superior.
