You'll probably find that it is two-section, doesn't have a hand rail and/or can't manage such a ceiling height. Lidl and Aldi non-food specials like that are also only available for limited periods.

This does look the same as the "own-brand" one I bought from B&Q many years ago, which has performed well ever since. My only criticism is the inadequate feet on the bottom section, which either broke off or threatened to damage the carpet. I replaced them with a block of wood which spreads the load nicely.

I've been after a loft ladder since this time last year. From a decent brand and it'll hold the Mrs (I'm sure she'll appreciate that). Purchased & voted HOT!

Is this just a ladder, or can it be fixed to the loft hatch and be pulled down?

It must be fixed to the loft floor or trimming joist (not hatch) and pulled down. The hatch should open downwards, as per the photo. It will come with a latch to hold a downward-opening hatch closed.

Thanks for this OP, great timing!

My existing ladder just broke yesterday, so I ordered last night!

I was put off one of these after my neighbour opened the hatch and the ladder fell down and hit him on the head - whatever safety mechanism that's supposed to stop this happening didn't work! Sort of funny if it happens to somebody else.

Just to add, my loft ladder arrived today and is not 'Abru' but Werner branded.

Seemingly Werner bought up 'Abru', so the ladders are basically the same product.

Haven't had a chance to install them yet, but seem OK quality wise.
