Abru loft access kit/ladder £63.74 @ Homebase instore

Been after a good quality loft ladder for a while. Almost got this one in b&q at £128 but decided to check homebase with the 15% off deal this weekend.

Was reduced to £75 in homebase as "discontinued stock" with the 15% off it came to £63.74! total bargain in my opinion.

I got mine at ipswich but I suspect it is nationwide as it is discontinued stock - the homebase website shows a newer version at £169!

This is a fantastic price. We got it from B&Q a couple of years back on special at £99. Its sturdy, easy to use and at this price I reckon every home should have one. Hot

Great price, great deal. That extra 15% trimmed off makes all the difference, I'm sure Mr. Ipswich would applaud you for supporting the Ipswich economy!

Cracking loft kit. Really solid. Great find OP.

Excellent price, I got a very similar one from Wickes a few years ago and that was already discounted at £99

Do you have the product number? Great find though heat added

I tried for find a model number for the original post but nothing obvious. Just says "complete loft kit" 3-section attic ladder.

I'm guessing they will not have this online?
Has anyone seen this item online elsewhere at similar prices?

had one of these fitted this week, paid £120 odd at b&q so this is a cracking deal

Great bit of kit, I picked one up a couple of years ago and it's great!

there's a cheaper (alluminium) 3 way ladder at Asda at the moment for about £35 as am alternative

How do you fit these? - do you have to cut a hole a certain size exactly for the door cover? I'm cutting a hole in my loft soon but going off the rafters it is going to be narrow and long to avoid extra work.

Call all 3 close to me (south Yorks) and all have it at £169.99 minus the 15% discount currently running.

Robcook did you go to doncaster? Was just wondering whether it's worth going to see. Thanks

I bought 1 of these from b&q a while back got it price matched with homebase plus the 10% prove promise but that still only brought it down to around £90 but! !!!!!! They did end up sending me 2 lol good price for a good loft kit, do take a bit of fitting but worth it, I've now got a spare day in the garage lol

How are you guys insulating the hatch? Does the insulation fit under the ladder or do you all have warm lofts??

The hatch is made of insulated material so no need to fit anything else to it.

Brilliant loft ladder / access.

The ladder is almost a set of steps, rather than a ladder. My wife was reluctant to go in the loft before due to the hassle of opening the old fashioned hatch and then putting up a ladder. This has made it very easy for her (Which made my day because she has the entire content of a car boot sale up there in junk).

Aye but has it got the hatch too?

None in Leicester that price

just phoned cardiff store it is £99 plus the 15% off

Would check the comments on the web site before buying if I was anybody considering this purchase, one of the negatives is that the support arms reduce entry size for some objects you need to put up.

Does anyone know if they would work with a plastic hatch? Looking at the picture it appears you need to also attach the ladder to the hatch, so probably only works with a wooden hatch?

Yes, they have the new one in at the Riverside, Northampton branch, where they are also charging the new - much higher - price

Hatch comes with it you just have to make your opening fit it.

All very well if the ladders actually work......... If not then you end up stuck in the loft. Dangerus

Full price Robroyston hamilton and wishaw

Requires a loft opening 1.12meters by 0.54meters in your ceiling, and 1.55meters from the front of the opening to allow the ladder to unfold. Make sure you're happy with a loft hatch this long (it's pretty big). Also check the size of your existing opening : many are wider than 54cm then you're stuck with making it narrower and trying to match your existing ceiling finish. Also consider if you have a pre-trussed roof ( The modern sort with lots of triangular bracing) they are not supposed to be cut at all. Normally spaced at 600mm centers so if you can fit this between them it's easy, but if you need the opening at 90 degrees to them it's a non starter.

Er......if the ladder "didn't work" you wouldn't get in the loft to start with. oO

None in Blyth Northumberland.

Fitted a few of these over the years, we were paying around £100 Trade so this is a real bargain, best advice I can give you when you come to fit it is take the ladder off it makes them so much lighter to lift up, also if your working from inside the loft nail a couple of laths across the hatch opening so it can't fall through when you come to fix it in the opening.
