If you are a diabetic, get them on prescription for free !

Surely its still cheaper to get these on prescription and pay the priscription charge if you are Type 2 Diabetic.

it is cheaper if your gp will prescribe! My dad has type 2 and on insulin tablets but gp says she cant justify giving him a monitor!

I use these.. I didnt know type 2 pay for there subscriptions?

if you have any of the following conditions, which also includes diabetes where control is not just diet alone then you are entitled to free prescriptions

Then how does he monitor his Sugar levels? Maybe he should change his GP. Monitoring sugar levels daily is vital.

Very clearly, for newly diagnosed Type 2 the NHS has change its policy and will not (or may not) recommend testing or prescribe test strips.

The posters here are just a little out of date on this point.
