Bought a refurb laptop from dell outlet with 15% discount..£325.. arrived in pristine condition,as new. i5 8250u,8GB ram,256SSD, AMD radeon 530 4GB
The 15% off is student discount. But anyone can still get 10% off as new customer. Will still work out better value than this Acer deal from Argos.

There are better deals right now in terms of these two. But i’d get a student friend/relative to get the 15% code first, then check everyday for stock
Price is exclusive of vat, so u’ll have to add 20% to the price u see in screenshots,u can see the vat inclusive price if u click on add to basket.if u have 15% off code,it just works out 5% more than the price u see in those pictures. Plus its free returns,Dell will arrange courier to come and collect if you’re not happy with the product

Why? Is it a TN?
For the price this is a good deal. certainly better than the £222 for a 1024x736 screen earlier in the day.

And I purchased one of those Dells but with an inferior processor and it has sat idle since I purchased it.
With a battery life of around 1 1/2 hours and a dull screen its unusable as a laptop. It has to be constantly powered. Its a joyless heavy laptop.

Battery life on all but the XPS 13's is just dire these days. Ohter mqnufacturers are almost as bad IMPO but Dell take the biscuit for really lousy battery life.
Oddly enough, I was just looking at one of these in my local Currys.

Pros.

Good looking machine.
Keyboard very good.

Cons
The screen is dim and only really is useable on 100% brightness - reviews have stated how dim the screen is. But I found plenty of other makes in Currys today with just as dim or even dimmer screens.

I loaded youtube on the one in the shop and played 'Battle of the B*stards' from 'Game of Thrones'. It was a mess. Big picture break-up, stuttering sound and eventually the video just hung.

Just to make sure that this was not the store's internet I went and played the same video on different laptops and all played it perfectly. Then they played other videos so I was not using anything in some store cache somewhere.

So not sure what the problem was here - whether it is a hardware issue or whether getting newer drivers might sort out the problem.

Have to pay me to take the crap from Dell. As stated the batteries in these is truly terrible. Replaced dell Inspiron 13 with an acer v3 372 battery waaaay better. Screen better and best of all, it isn't a dell.

And the Dell has far superior CPU and bigger SSD.

BTW, how does the Dell have inferior USB ports? Both come with 3x USB 3.0/3.1 (inc 1 Type-C) and 1x USB 2.0.

Is it easy to upgrade the hard drive on this acer ???

Is it easy to upgrade the hard drive on this acer ???

There is a video on how disassemble it on you tube and it does not seem like something I would choose to do unless necessary - it easier to attach another hard drive via USB. If you do want to replace you can either buy a larger NVME type ssd (check the manual if it is nvme or sata as the slot is the same for both and some laptops will only take one or the other).

It has 12 screws which need tobe removed then removing the case, requires patience. You will likely mark the back trying to prise it apart. You can see a slot for an NVME type SSD on the right hand side (although it may be sata). Then there is a normal sata type hard drive connector on the bottom left hand side, to the left of the battery.

The heat pipes will be covered with some tape - dont remove that, although it appears to have been removed in this image so you can see the innards.
